Claims
- 1. A liquid treatment system comprising:
- a microwave filter assembly including a filter element for removing suspended particles from a liquid passing through said filter, said filter element including a ceramic material, said microwave filter assembly further including microwave means for subjecting particles removed by said filter element to microwaves; and
- means for mixing liquid passing through said filter element with a liquid which includes at least one oxidant.
- 2. The liquid treatment system of claim 1, wherein said filter assembly includes an air inlet and an exhaust gas outlet, the filter assembly further including an exhaust filter.
- 3. The liquid treatment system of claim 2, wherein said exhaust filter includes an activated charcoal filter.
- 4. The liquid treatment system of claim 3, wherein said activated charcoal filter is disposed below said filter element.
- 5. The liquid treatment system of claim 2, wherein said exhaust filter includes a cellular ceramic filter.
- 6. The liquid treatment system of claim 5, wherein said cellular ceramic filter further includes a noble metal.
- 7. The liquid treatment system of claim 5, wherein said exhaust filter further includes a lossy material disposed at least one of upstream and downstream of said cellular ceramic filter.
- 8. The liquid treatment system of claim 2, wherein said exhaust filter includes a cellular filter formed of a ceramic and a lossy material.
- 9. The liquid treatment system of claim 1, further including clarification means disposed upstream of said filter assembly.
- 10. The liquid treatment system of claim 9, wherein said clarification means includes a clarification chamber having inlet means for introducing a tangential liquid flow into said clarification chamber to produce a swirling flow in said clarification chamber.
- 11. The liquid treatment system of claim 10, wherein said clarification chamber further includes barrier means and filter means, said barrier means separating said filter means from the swirling flow in said clarification chamber, and wherein said filter means is disposed between said barrier means and a liquid outlet of said clarification chamber.
- 12. The liquid treatment system of claim 10, further including a surge tank.
- 13. The liquid treatment system of claim 9, wherein said clarification means includes a roughing filter assembly.
- 14. The liquid treatment system of claim 13, wherein said roughing filter assembly includes a rough microwave filter assembly having a rough ceramic filter, and microwave means for subjecting said rough ceramic filter to microwave radiation.
- 15. The liquid treatment system of claim 13, wherein said roughing filter assembly includes a pair of rough filter chambers each having a rough ceramic filter, and means for subjecting said rough ceramic filters to microwave radiation.
- 16. The liquid treatment system of claim 13, further including a surge tank.
- 17. The liquid treatment system of claim 1, further including a lossy material disposed at least one of upstream of said filter element and downstream of said filter element.
- 18. The liquid treatment system of claim 1, wherein said filter element is formed of a ceramic and a lossy material.
- 19. The liquid treatment system of claim 18, wherein said filter element is formed of an oxygen bonded silicon carbide material.
- 20. The liquid treatment system of claim 1, wherein said filter assembly includes a pair of filter chambers each having one of said filter elements disposed therein, the liquid treatment system further including valve means to selectively supply liquid to one of said pair of filter chambers at a time;
- the liquid treatment system further including control means for controlling said valve means and said microwave means such that when one of said filter elements is isolated for cleaning by said microwave means, liquids are directed to the other of said filter chambers.
- 21. The liquid treatment system of claim 1, further including means for subjecting liquid to at least one of ultraviolet radiation and microwave radiation downstream of said means for mixing, to provide radiation for enhancing effectiveness of said liquid which includes at least one oxidant.
- 22. The liquid treatment system of claim 1, further including means for forming said liquid which includes at least one oxidant.
- 23. The liquid treatment system of claim 1, wherein said means for forming said liquid which includes at least one oxidant includes means for generating a low pH oxidant liquid and a high pH liquid, and wherein said means for mixing mixes the low pH oxidant liquid with liquids exiting the filter assembly, the liquid treatment system further including radiation means for subjecting liquids to one of ultraviolet radiation and microwave radiation downstream of said means for mixing, and means for combining said high pH liquid with liquids exiting said radiation means.
- 24. The liquid treatment system of claim 1, further including a brine supply and a mixed oxidant cell which receives a brine solution from said brine supply and generates said liquid which includes at least one oxidant, and wherein an outlet of the mixed oxidant cell is connected to said means for mixing.
- 25. The liquid treatment system of claim 1, wherein said liquid which includes at least one oxidant includes at least one of ozone, hydrogen peroxide, hypochlorite, chlorine dioxide and chlorine.
- 26. The liquid treatment system of claim 1, further including a suction pump downstream of said filter assembly for draining liquids through said filter assembly.
- 27. The liquid treatment system of claim 1, further including an air inlet to said filter assembly and means for preheating air entering said air inlet, said means for preheating utilizing heat from said microwave means.
