Abstract
Firearm Optic Data Display attaches a Ballistics Data Display Card to a Firearm Optic using a slotted polymer U-Clamp and magnetic detachable Card Holder.
Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Firearm marksmanship competitions that involve multiple targets at varying distances require external ballistics data for each target. Access to ballistic data under time constraint is optimized when the data is displayed to the competitor with minimal disturbance to body position during target engagements.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The applicant's invention is a novel apparatus for displaying ballistics data comprised of:

    • 1. A U-Clamp attached to a firearm mounted optic by elastic properties and internal geometry of said U-Clamp.
    • 2. A Card Holder attached to said U-Clamp by magnetic force and a Restraining Slot.
    • 3. A Card Holder attached to a Ballistics Data Display Card by a Retaining Screw and a Restraining Slot.

The applicant's invention is a novel apparatus of manufacture for displaying ballistics data. The apparatus mounts to a cylindrical portion of a firearm mounted optic. The apparatus is comprised of a U-Clamp 1, a Card Holder 2, and a Ballistics Data Display Card 3. In a preferred embodiment, the U-Clamp 1 is a solid polymer. U-Clamp 1 attaches to a firearm mounted optic by passing Guide Slot 8 over a cylindrical portion of the optic until the cylindrical portion is enclosed by Internal Diameter 9. U-Clamp 1 adheres to the cylindrical portion of the optic by elastic force generated when Internal Diameter 9 is less than the external diameter the cylindrical portion of the optic and the width of Guide Slot 8 is less than Internal Diameter 9. Card Holder 2 adheres to U-Clamp 1 by Magnet or Ferromagnetic Material 4 and Restraining Slot 6. U-Clamp 1 adheres to Card Holder 2 by Magnet or Ferromagnetic Material 4. Ballistics Data Display Card 3 attaches to Card Holder 2 by Retaining Screw 5 and Restraining Slot 7.

Claims
  • 1. A ballistics display apparatus comprising: a U-Clamp 1; a Card Holder 2; and a Ballistics Data Display Card 3.
  • 2. A U-Clamp as in claim 1, wherein said U-Clamp is made of a solid polymer.
  • 3. A U-Clamp as in claim 1, wherein said U-Clamp attaches to a cylindrical portion of a firearm mounted optic by passing Guide Slot 8 over said cylindrical portion until said cylindrical portion is enclosed by Internal Diameter 9.
  • 4. A U-Clamp as in claim 1, wherein said U-Clamp adheres to a cylindrical portion of a firearm mounted optic by elastic force generated when Internal Diameter 9 is less than external diameter of said cylindrical portion and Guide Slot 8 widthis less than Internal Diameter 9.
  • 5. A U-Clamp as in claim 1, wherein said U-Clamp contains Magnet or Ferromagnetic Material 4 attached to or embedded in said U-Clamp.
  • 6. A Card Holder as in claim 1, wherein said Card Holder contains a Restraining Slot 6 providing overlap between said Card Holder and said U-Clamp.
  • 7. A Card Holder as in claim 1, wherein said Card Holder contains Magnet or Ferromagnetic Material 4 attached to or embedded in said Card Holder.
  • 8. A Card Holder as in claim 1, wherein said Card Holder contains a Restraining Slot 7 providing overlap between said Card Holder and said Ballistics Data Display Card.
  • 9. A Card Holder as in claim 1, wherein said Card Holder is penetrated by a Retaining Screw 5 for the purpose of attaching said Ballistics Data Display Card to said Card Holder.
  • 10. A Ballistics Data Display Card as in claim 1, wherein said Ballistics Data Display Card contains no mechanism for the purpose of attachment to a physical object.
