1. Field of Invention
The present invention relates to a fireproof knitting fabric. More particularly, the present invention relates to a fireproof retardant knitting fabric comprising an interior lining and an exterior layer. The interior lining is obtained by interweaving flame retardant fiber. The exterior layer is obtained by interweaving oxidized PAN yarn (O.X.PAN) and the flame retardant fiber of the interior lining. The obtained fireproof knitting fabric is featured by fireproofness and thermal insulation.
2. Description of Related Art
Fireproof knitting fabric has very wide applications such as fireproof clothing for fireman, military uniform for soldier, protective apparel for chemical experimentalist, and protective apparel for people working at high temperature environment. All of above applications re quire clothes to be fireproof and thermal insulating. Conventional process for manufacturing fireproof knitting fabric is to carburize yarn to form a layer of fireproof material on the surface of the yarn, but the carburized yarn is too fragile and easily broken. Therefore, an additional fabric has to be combined together to reinforce mechanical strength. Taiwan Patent No. M308170 “A Flame Retardant Fabric” discloses the use of an adhesive to adhere a surface material on the base layer fabric made of flame retardant artificial fiber. Its surface material can be selected from household fabric, suede fabric, or artificial leather. However, the obtained flame retardant fabric is not soft enough to be a wearable cloth, and the disclosed adhesive is not fireproof so it might be melted at high temperature which leads to the separation of the base layer fabric and the surface material.
Taiwan Patent No. M296139 “Structural Modification of Fireproof Fabric” discloses a fabric comprising a first fireproof layer, a second fireproof layer, and a third fireproof layer. The first fireproof layer is made by thermally bonding a silicon dioxide fabric and a thermal bonding cotton fabric. The second fireproof layer is an oxidized fiber fabric below the first fireproof layer. The third fireproof layer is a flame retardant fabric below the second fireproof layer. By the arrangement of the three layers mentioned above, a fireproof and thermal insulating fabric can be obtained. However, the manufacturing process of the three-layered fabric is complicated and the obtained fabric is heavily weighted which leads to undesirable inconvenience when a rescue worker wearing clothes made of such fabric is relieving victims of a disaster.
In order to overcome drawbacks of conventional fireproof apparel, the present invention provides a fireproof knitting fabric obtained by interweaving flame retardant fiber and oxidized PAN yarn. The fireproof knitting fabric comprises an interior lining and an exterior layer. The interior lining is obtained by interweaving the flame retardant fiber. The exterior layer is obtained by interweaving the oxidized PAN yarn and the flame retardant fiber of the interior lining. The above oxidized PAN yarn has gone through oxidation and carburization processes.
The fabric of the present invention provides following advantages:
1. The fireproof knitting fabric of the present invention has wide applications in various fields due to its fireproofness and thermal insulation properties. Those who wear clothes made of such fabric are able to safely work at high temperature environment.
2. The fireproof knitting fabric of the present invention provides a soft and light-weight interior lining, allowing people to wear comfortably without feeling any burden.
3. The fireproof knitting fabric of the present invention provides an exterior layer made by interweaving the oxidized PAN yarn and the flame retardant fiber, so its mechanical strength can be reinforced.
