Claims
- 1. A process for producing hydrocarbons, comprising contacting a feed stream comprising hydrogen and carbon monoxide with a catalyst in a reaction zone maintained at conversion-promoting conditions effective to produce an effluent stream comprising C5 and higher hydrocarbons; said catalyst comprising:cobalt; rhenium; a promoter selected from the group consisting of boron and phosphorous, wherein the promoter is effective to enhance the selectivity of the catalyst for producing the C5 and higher hydrocarbons, wherein the weight ratio of elemental promoter to elemental cobalt is between about 0.0005:1 and 0.5:1; and an alumina support.
- 2. The process of claim 1 wherein the promoter comprises boron.
- 3. The process of claim 1 wherein the promoter comprises phosphorous.
- 4. A process for producing hydrocarbons, comprising contacting a feed stream comprising hydrogen and carbon monoxide with a catalyst in a reaction zone maintained at conversion-promoting conditions effective to produce an effluent stream comprising C5 and higher hydrocarbons, said catalyst comprising:cobalt; a promoter comprising phosphorus, wherein the weight ratio of elemental promoter to elemental cobalt is between about 0.00005:1 and 0.5:1; and a support selected from the group consisting of silica, titania, zirconia, alumina, and combinations thereof.
- 5. The process of claim 4 wherein the catalyst further comprises rhenium.
- 6. The process of claim 4 wherein the support comprises alumina.
- 7. The process of claim 4 wherein the support comprises silica.
- 8. The process of claim 4 wherein the support comprises titania.
- 9. The process of claim 4 wherein the support comprises zirconia.
