Abstract
A fishing net system comprises a handle having a top and a bottom. A loop extends from the bottom of the handle, and a mesh is attached to the loop. A connector system is operably coupled to the fishing net at a location spaced apart from the top of the handle. The connector system is configured to removably couple the fishing net to a user's back. A method is also provided for attaching a landing net to the back panel of a fishing garment, which includes the steps of removably coupling the handle of the landing net to the top section of the garment; and removably coupling the landing net to the middle section of the garment.
Description

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

FIG. 1 illustrates a rear perspective view of a fishing garment system according to one embodiment of the present invention.

FIG. 2 illustrates a perspective view of one embodiment of an alternative connection system according to the invention.

FIGS. 3A and 3B illustrate perspective views of alternative embodiments of a connecting panel adapted to be attached to the rear panel of a fishing garment.

FIGS. 4A and 4B illustrate perspective views of one embodiment of a connecting adaptor adapted to be attached to the intersection of the handle and loop of a landing net.

FIGS. 5A and 5B illustrates perspective view of another embodiment of a connecting system that may be used to removable couple a landing net to a user's garment.

Claims
  • 1. A fishing net system comprising: a handle having a top and a bottom;a loop extending from the bottom of the handle;a mesh attached to the loop; anda connector system operably coupled to the fishing net at a location spaced apart from the top of the handle, wherein the connector system is configured to removably couple the fishing net to a user's back.
  • 2. A fishing net as in claim 1 wherein the connector system comprises at least one magnet coupled to the handle near where the handle reaches the loop.
  • 3. A fishing net as in claim 1 wherein the connector comprises a first pair of magnets positioned on opposite sides of the mesh, and a second pair of magnets configured to be placed on opposite sides of a user's garment.
  • 4. A fishing net as in claim 1 further comprising a coupling system coupled to the top end of the handle wherein the coupling system and the connection system secure the landing net in a vertical position on a back a user's garment when not in use.
  • 5. A kit for removably coupling a landing net to a user's garment, the kit comprising: a connection system that is configured to secure the landing net in a vertical position on the back panel of the fishing garment when not in use, wherein the connection system comprises a net portion and a garment portion; andinstructions for using the connection system, wherein the instructions comprise steps for removably coupling the net portion to the landing net and the garment portion to the garment, and for removably coupling the landing net to the garment using the net portion and the garment portion.
  • 6. A kit as in claim 5 wherein the net portion comprises a first pair of magnets that are configured to be positioned on opposite sides of the mesh and the garment portion comprises a second pair of magnets that are configured to be coupled to opposite sides of the garment.
  • 7. A method of attaching a landing net to a back of a fishing garment, the landing net having a handle, a loop and a mesh coupled to the loop, the method comprising: removably coupling the handle of the landing net to a top section of the back of the garment; andremovably coupling the landing net to a middle section of the back of the garment at a location spaced apart from the top section.
  • 8. A method as in claim 7 wherein the landing net is removably coupled to the middle section using a first pair of magnets positioned on opposite sides of the mesh and a second pair of magnets coupled to opposite sides of the back of the garment, and wherein the first pair of magnets are attracted to the second pair of magnets.
  • 9. A fishing garment system comprising: a fishing garment having a back panel with a top section and a middle section;a landing net having a handle and a loop with attached mesh;a first connection system removably coupling the end of the handle opposite the loop to the top section of the back panel; anda second connection system removably coupling the handle to the middle section of the back panel;wherein the first and second connection systems secure the landing net in a vertical position on the back panel of the fishing garment when not in use.
  • 10. A fishing garment as in claim 9 wherein the first connection system comprises a ring attached to the back panel of the fishing garment and a clip attached to the end of the handle on the landing net.
  • 11. A fishing garment as in claim 9 wherein the first connection system comprises a first magnet and a second magnet, or one magnet and one metal plate attractive to the magnet, or a first and a second hook and loop fastener, one of which is attached to the back panel and the other of which is attached to the handle of the landing net.
  • 12. A fishing garment as in claim 9 wherein the second connection system comprises a first magnet and second magnet, or one magnet and one metal plate attractive to the magnet, or a first and a second hook and loop fastener, one of which is attached to the middle section of the back panel of the fishing garment, and the other of which is attached to the intersection of the handle and the loop on the landing net.
  • 13. A fishing garment as in claim 12 wherein the first magnet, the plate, or the first hook and loop fastener is disposed on the surface of a support that is clipped onto the fabric in the middle section of the back panel.
  • 14. A fishing garment as in claim 12 wherein the first magnet, the plate, or the first hook and loop fastener is disposed on the surface of a support that is sewn into the fabric of the back panel.
  • 15. A fishing garment as in claim 12 wherein the second magnet, the plate, or the second hook and loop fastener is disposed on a connecting adaptor comprising a circumferential strap adapted to wrap around the landing net handle and a middle strap adapted to engage the circumferential strap at each end thereof and wrap around the landing net loop at the intersection of the handle and the loop.
  • 16. A fishing garment system as in claim 9 wherein the fishing garment is a vest.
  • 17. In a fishing vest system wherein the handle of a landing net having a loop and attached mesh is removably attached to the top section of the back panel of a vest so that the landing net is positioned on the back panel of the vest in a vertical position with the handle facing upward, the improvement which comprises: a first connector positioned on the landing net at the intersection of the handle and loop of the landing net; anda second connector attached to the back panel of the vest and adapted to be removably coupled to the first connector.
