Claims
- 1. A fishing line comprising:
(a) a monofilament made of a polymeric material; (b) said monofilament having an ultimate breaking strength of a minimum of 150,000 psi and an ultimate elongation of a minimum of 30 percent.
- 2. The line as recited in claim 1, wherein said monofilament further having an ultimate knot breaking strength of a minimum of 130,000 psi.
- 3. The line as recited in claim 2, wherein said ultimate knot breaking strength of said monofilament is within a range of about 130,000 to 170,000 psi.
- 4. The line as recited in claim 1, wherein said monofilament further having a breaking toughness of a minimum of 25,000 inch-pounds per cubic inch.
- 5. The line as recited in claim 4, wherein said breaking toughness of said monofilament is within a range of about 25,000 to 35,000 inch-pounds per cubic inch.
- 6. The line as recited in claim 1, wherein said monofilament further having a flexibility stiffness of no greater than 500,000 psi.
- 7. The line as recited in claim 6, wherein said monofilament has a flexibility stiffness of about 225,000 to 500,000 pounds per square inch.
- 8. The line as recited in claim 1, wherein said monofilament further having a finished diameter of between 0.003 inches to 0.045 inches.
- 9. The line as recited in claim 1, wherein said ultimate breaking strength of said monofilament is within a range of 150,000 to 180,000 psi.
- 10. The line as recited in claim 1, wherein said ultimate elongation of said monofilament is within a range of 30 percent to 100 percent.
- 11. The line as recited in claim 1, wherein said polymeric material is one selected from the group of polymers consisting of polyamides, fluoropolymers, and polyolephines.
- 12. The line as recited in claim 11, wherein said polyamide is one selected from the group of polyamides consisting of nylon 6, nylon 66, nylon 612, nylon 11, and nylon 12.
- 13. The line as recited in claim 11, wherein said fluoropolymer is polyvinylidene fluoride.
- 14. The line as recited in claim 11, wherein said polyolephine is polypropylene.
- 15. A fishing line comprising:
(a) a monofilament made of a polymeric material; (b) said monofilament having an ultimate breaking strength of a minimum of 150,000 psi, an ultimate elongation of a minimum of 30 percent, and a finished diameter of between 0.003 inches to 0.045 inches.
- 16. The line as recited in claim 15, wherein said monofilament further having an ultimate knot breaking strength of a minimum of 130,000 psi.
- 17. The line as recited in claim 15, wherein said monofilament further having a breaking toughness of a minimum of 25,000 inch-pounds per cubic inch.
- 18. The line as recited in claim 15, wherein said monofilament further having a flexibility stiffness of no greater than 500,000 psi.
- 19. A fishing line with enhanced properties, said fishing line having:
(a) an ultimate breaking strength of a minimum of 150,000 psi; (b) an ultimate elongation of a minimum of 30 percent; (c) an ultimate knot breaking strength of a minimum of 130,000 psi; (d) a breaking toughness of a minimum of 25,000 in-lbs per cubic inch; and (e) a flexibility stiffness of no greater than 500,000 psi.
- 20. The line as recited in claim 19, wherein said ultimate breaking strength of said line is within a range of 150,000 to 180,000 psi.
- 21. The line as recited in claim 19, wherein said ultimate elongation of said line is within a range of 30 percent to 100 percent.
- 22. The line as recited in claim 19, wherein said ultimate knot breaking strength of said line is within a range of 130,000 to 170,000 psi.
- 23. The line as recited in claim 19, wherein said breaking toughness of said line is within a range of 25,000 to 35,000 in-pounds per cubic inch.
- 24. The line as recited in claim 19, wherein said flexibility stiffness of said line is within a range of 225,000 to 500,000 psi.
