Claims
- 1. A method for producing a solid flavoring composition containing low levels of volatile flavor compounds comprising the steps of:
- a. forming a supersaturated aqueous solution of sodium chloride, the solution also containing a volatile flavoring composition;
- b. crystallizing sodium chloride from the solution to fix the portion of the relative flavoring composition within the individual sodium chloride crystals at a level of less than about 0.5% by weight of the crystal, and thereafter,
- c. drying the crystals.
- 2. The method according to claim 1 wherein the volatile flavoring composition comprises a smoke flavor.
