Claims
- 1. A method of forming powder particles, comprising:
mixing a sol-gel with an organic solvent to form a mixed solution; igniting the mixed solution to produce a self-sustaining flame; and using the self-sustaining flame to produce powder particles.
- 2. A method of forming powder particles, comprising:
mixing a chelate and an organic solvent to form a mixed solution; and igniting the mixed solution directly to create a self-sustaining flame to produce powder particles.
- 3. The method of claim 2, wherein the chelate is a complex metal compound.
- 4. The method of claim 2, wherein the chelate comprises at least one metallic composition selected from a group comprising a metal alkoxide, a metallic salt dissolved in one of an acid or a base, or a combination thereof.
- 5. The method of claim 2, further comprising:
utilizing a non-vacuum physical evaporation process to coat a surface of an object with the powder particles produced by the self-sustaining flame of the burning mixed solution.
- 6. The method claim 2, wherein an amount of organic solvent used is adjusted to control powder particle formation rate.
- 7. The method of claim 2, wherein the mixed solution further comprises at least one non-metallic hydride; and
wherein the chelate comprises a plurality of metallic compositions to form powder particles of a mixed metal compound.
- 8. The method of claim 7, wherein the non-metallic hydride is selected from a group comprising metal oxide, metal sulfide, metal sulfate, metal nitride, metal nitrate, metal borate, metal boride, metal halide, metal phosphide, metal phosphate, and metal carbonate.
- 9. A method of forming powder particles, comprising:
mixing a chelate with at least one non-metallic hydride and an organic solvent to form a mixed solution; igniting the mixed solution directly to create a self-sustaining flame to produce powder particles; and utilizing a non-vacuum physical evaporation process to coat a surface of an object with the powder particles produced by the self-sustaining flame of the burning mixed solution
- 10. The method of claim 9, wherein the chelate comprises at least one metallic composition selected from a group comprising a metal alkoxide, a metallic salt dissolved in one of an acid or a base, or a combination thereof.
- 11. The method of claim 9, wherein an amount of organic solvent used is adjusted to control powder particle formation rate.
- 12. The method of claim 9, wherein the non-metallic hydride is selected from a group comprising metal oxide, metal sulfide, metal sulfate, metal nitride, metal nitrate, metal borate, metal boride, metal halide, metal phosphide, metal phosphate, and metal carbonate.
