- means for controlling said changing means in response to the output of said selection means; and
- warning signal producing means for producing a warning signal when said digital focal length data is representative of an angle of the cone of said flash light which exceeds a limit angle of the cone of said flash light which said changing means can provide;
- said selecting means setting said changing means to a condition for providing the limit angle of the cone of said flash light when said warning signal is produced.
- 2. A flash device as claimed in claim 1, further comprising:
- means for displaying data representative of the condition of said changing means; and
- means for providing a warning through said displaying means when said warning signal is produced.
- 3. A flash device as claimed in claim 1, wherein the limit angle of the cone corresponds to the widest angle of the cone. .Iadd.
- 4. A flash device for use in flash photography and provided with digital data representative of a focal length of a lens mounted on a camera, said flash device comprising:
- means for emitting a flash light;
- means for changing an angle of cone of the flash light covering the object field to be photographed;
- a manually operable member;
- means, responsive to said manually operable member, for controlling said changing means to change the angle of cone to one of a variety of predetermined fixed angles of cone and one variable angle of cone, in a predetermined order, with every manual operation of said manually operable member;
- means for automatically determining the variable angle of cone in response to the digital data representative of a focal length; and
- means for displaying the angle of cone irrespective of whether it is one of the predetermined fixed angles of cone or the automatically determined variable angle of cone, whereby the angle of cone displayed is changed among the variety of predetermined fixed angles of cone and the one automatically determined variable angle of cone in a predetermined order on every manual operation of said manually operable member. .Iaddend. .Iadd.5. A flash device as claimed in claim 4, wherein said controlling means cyclically changes the angle of cone to one of the variety of predetermined fixed angles of cone and the one variable angle of cone, in a predetermined order, with every manual operation of said same manually operable member. .Iaddend. .Iadd.6. A flash device as claimed in claim 4, further comprising second means for displaying whether the angle of cone displayed by said angle of cone displaying means is one of the predetermined fixed angles of cone or the one automatically determined
- variable angle of cone. .Iaddend. .Iadd.7. A flash device as claimed in claim 4, further comprising means for turning on the flash device and means responsive to said turning means, for directing said controlling means to initially select the automatically determined variable angle of cone. .Iaddend. .Iadd.8. A flash device for use in flash photography and provided with digital data representative of a focal length of a lens mounted on a camera, said flash device comprising:
- means for emitting a flash light;
- first means for changing an angle of cone of the flash light covering the object field to be photographed;
- means for selecting between a manual mode for manually controlling said changing means and an automatic mode for automatically controlling said changing means;
- means, operable in the automatic mode, for controlling said changing means to change the angle of cone in automatic response to the digital data transmitted from the camera;
- second means for changing a direction of flash light emission to provide a bounce photography mode in addition to the normal photography mode; and
- means, responsive to said selecting means and said second changing means, for generating a signal indicative of an undesirable condition when the automatic mode is selected and the bounce photography is provided. .Iaddend. .Iadd.9. A flash device as claimed in claim 8, wherein said second changing means is capable of further changing the direction of flash light emission in the bounce photography mode to provide a desirable bounce effect. .Iaddend. .Iadd.10. A flash device as claimed in claim 8, further comprising means for making a warning in response to the signal from said generating means. .Iaddend. .Iadd.11. A flash device for use in flash photography and provided with digital data representative of a focal length of a lens mounted on a camera, said flash device comprising:
- means for emitting a flash light;
- means for changing an angle of cone of the flash light covering the object field to be photographed;
- means for controlling said changing means to change the angle of cone in automatic response to the digital data representative of a focal length;
- means for calculating a shooting distance range to be covered by an available amount of the flash light in response to the change in angle of cone controlled by said controlling means; and
- means for displaying the calculated shooting distance range. .Iaddend. .Iadd.12. A flash device as claimed in claim 11, wherein said calculating means is further responsive to data representative of aperture size of the lens to be controlled by the camera and data representative of the film speed. .Iaddend. .Iadd.13. A flash device as claimed in claim 11, further comprising means for detecting charge completion of stored electric energy for a source of the flash light, and means for prohibiting said displaying means from displaying the shooting distance when said detecting means fails to detect charge completion. .Iaddend.
