Claims
- 1. A flashlight holder clamp assembly comprising
- a gripper having a resilient body, an outer surface of circular cross section as taken substantially perpendicular to a first diameter of said gripper, a length in a direction or said first diameter, a centrally disposed, elongated hole extending from a first end at said outer surface to a second end at said outer surface along said first diameter, and slots spaced one from another extending radially inwardly from said outer surface to a second diameter of said gripper and through more than half and less than completely through the length of said resilient body in the direction of said first diameter, said slots alternately extending from said first end at said outer surface and from said second end at said outer surface;
- a housing for containing said gripper including a split shell positioned over said gripper, said split shell being split substantially parallel to said first diameter, and a mounting clamp displaced from said gripper; and
- means for drawing said split shell together.
- 2. The assembly of claim 1 wherein said outer surface is a truncated spherical surface.
- 3. The assembly of claim 1 wherein said split shell defines a substantially spherical receiving area for said gripper and for uniformly engaging said gripper over a substantial portion of said outer surface such that upon drawing said split shell together by said drawing means, said centrally disposed hole is uniformly constricted.
- 4. The assembly of claim 1 wherein said centrally disposed, elongated hole extends completely through said resilient body.
- 5. The assembly of claim 1 wherein said mounting clamp is constructed and arranged to clamp onto a cylindrical member.
- 6. The assembly of claim 1 wherein said centrally disposed, elongated hole is circular in cross-section as taken substantially perpendicular to said first diameter.
- 7. The assembly of claim 1 wherein said means for drawing said split shell together includes a fastener.
- 8. The assembly of claim 1 wherein said drawing means is a male/female screw fastener.
- 9. The assembly of claim 1 wherein said slots are linear and parallel to said first diameter.
- 10. The assembly of claim 9 wherein said outer surface is a truncated spherical surface.
- 11. The assembly of claim 9 wherein said split shell defines a substantially spherical receiving area for said gripper and for uniformly engaging said gripper over a substantial portion of said outer surface such that upon drawing said split shell together by said drawing means, said centrally disposed hole is uniformly constricted.
- 12. The assembly of claim 9 wherein said centrally disposed, elongated hole extends completely through said resilient body.
- 13. The assembly of claim 9 wherein said mounting clamp is constructed and arranged to clamp onto a cylindrical member.
- 14. The assembly of claim 9 wherein said centrally disposed, elongated hole is circular in cross-section as taken substantially perpendicular to said first diameter.
- 15. The assembly of claim 9 wherein said means for drawing said split shell together includes a fastener.
- 16. The assembly of claim 9 wherein said means for drawing said split shell together is a male/female screw fastener.
