Claims
- 1. A method of manufacturing a flexible bag with a preformed pouring conduit comprising the steps of:
- selecting a longitudinal sheet of flexible material,
- forming openings in a central portion of the sheet and locating the openings so that in later folding steps an opening will be in a central portion of an inwardly-folded gusset,
- creating flexible conduits connected to said openings, wherein each conduit has an open end in communication with a corresponding opening in the plastic sheet,
- folding the sheet to create front and rear panels for a flexible bag and gussets comprising the opening between said front and rear panels, and
- separating said folded sheet into individual bags.
- 2. The method of claim 1 in which the opening is in a central portion of a gusset.
- 3. The method of claim 1 in which the flexible conduits are created to comprise an extended flexible pouring spout.
- 4. The methods of claim 1 in which the flexible conduits are made from a second sheet of flexible material.
- 5. The method of claim 1 in which the flexible conduits are made from, and are integrated with, the longitudinal sheet of material.
- 6. The method of claim 1 in which the flexible conduits are folded within the gusset and between the front and rear panels during the manufacturing process.
- 7. The method of claim 1 which comprises the step of affixing a handle to said front and rear panels.
- 8. The method of claim 1 which comprises the step of affixing a material to cover said gusset and conduit.
- 9. The method of claim 8 which comprises the additional step of creating perforations in said cover material.
- 10. The method of claim 8 which comprises the step of adding a resealable closure to the cover material.
- 11. A method of manufacturing a flexible plastic bag with a flexible pouring conduit, comprising the steps of:
- forming an opening in a central portion of a flexible plastic sheet;
- creating a flexible plastic pouring conduit connected to said opening, said conduit having an open end in communication with the opening in the plastic sheet;
- folding the plastic sheet to create front and rear panels with an inwardly-folded gusset located therebetween, the folding being carried out to cause the opening in the sheet and the flexible plastic conduit to be located on the inwardly-folded gusset; and
- sealing left and right side edges of the front and rear panels to form the flexible plastic bag.
- 12. A method according to claim 11, wherein the step of creating the flexible plastic conduit includes the step of creating the conduit with a length such that the open end of the conduit extends beyond one sealed side edge of the flexible bag when the bag is filled.
- 13. A method according to claim 11, wherein said step of creating the flexible plastic conduit includes the step of forming the conduit from said plastic sheet so that the conduit is integral with said plastic sheet.
- 14. A method according to claim 11, wherein the step of creating the flexible plastic conduit includes the step of forming the conduit from a second flexible plastic sheet.
- 15. A method according to claim 11, further comprising the step of affixing a handle to said front and rear panels of the bag.
- 16. The method according to claim 11, further comprising the step of fixing a plastic material to cover at least a portion of said gusset and said conduit.
- 17. The method according to claim 16, further comprising the step of creating perforations in the cover material.
- 18. The method according to claim 11, wherein said plastic conduit comprises the same material as said plastic sheet.
- 19. The method according to claim 11, wherein said step of creating the flexible plastic conduit includes the step of sealing one end of the flexible plastic conduit to prevent communication from the sealed end to an interior of the bag.
- 20. A method according to claim 11, further comprising the step of folding an open end of said flexible plastic conduit downward into a downwardly-extending fold at one end of said gusset.
