Claims
- 1. A flexible vase for containing a floral grouping having a stem portion and a bloom portion, the flexible vase adapted to receive and maintain a liquid about the stem portion of the floral grouping held by the flexible vase, the flexible vase comprising:an adjusting shape-sustaining support member constructed from a sheet of flexible material, the shape-sustaining support member having an open upper end, an open lower end and a peripheral sidewall defining an internal chamber extending between the open upper end and the open lower end of the shape-sustaining support member and having a connector assembly for connecting a first end portion of the sheet of flexible material to a second end portion of the flexible material to form the shape-sustaining support member; a flexible bag disposed within the internal chamber of the shape-sustaining support member and having an upper end portion which extends a distance above the open upper end of the shape-sustaining support member; and wherein the flexible bag is secured to a portion of an inner surface of the shape-sustaining support member.
- 2. The flexible vase of claim 1 wherein the sheet of flexible material has a semi-circular shape.
- 3. The flexible vase of claim 1 wherein the shape-sustaining support member has a frustoconical shape.
- 4. The flexible vase of claim 1 wherein the flexible bag is secured to the shape-sustaining support member by a bonding material.
- 5. The flexible vase of claim 1 wherein the sheet of flexible material is a polymeric material, a metal, or a cardboard.
- 6. The flexible vase of claim 1 further comprising the floral grouping having the stem portion disposed within the flexible bag.
- 7. The flexible vase of claim 1 wherein the connector assembly of the shape-sustaining support member comprises a male connector and a female connector and wherein the adjustment of the male connector and female connector enable the circumferential dimensions of the shape-sustaining support member to be varied.
- 8. The flexible vase of claim 7 wherein the female connector comprises a slit in the sheet of flexible material.
- 9. The flexible vase of claim 1 wherein the sheet of flexible material has a recess in the upper side thereof.
- 10. An apparatus for constructing a flexible vase for containing a floral grouping, comprising:a sheet of flexible material having a first end portion having a male connector, and a second end portion having a female connector engageable with the male connector, and the sheet of flexible material having an upper surface, and wherein the sheet of flexible material can be formed into a frustoconical shape-sustaining support member by connecting the male connector and female connector, the shape-sustaining support member having an open upper end and an open lower end, and an internal chamber; and a flexible bag secured to the upper surface of sheet of flexible material and wherein when the sheet of flexible material is formed into the shape-sustaining support member, the flexible bag is disposed within the internal chamber of the shape-sustaining support member with an upper end portion of the flexible bag extending from the open upper end of the shape-sustaining support member, the flexible bag adapted to contain a stem portion of the floral grouping.
- 11. The apparatus of claim 10 wherein the sheet of flexible material has a semicircular shape.
- 12. The apparatus of claim 10 wherein the sheet of flexible material has a recess in an upper side therein.
- 13. The apparatus of claim 10 wherein the flexible bag is secured to the sheet of flexible material by a bonding material.
- 14. The apparatus of claim 10 wherein the sheet of flexible material is a polymeric material, a metal, or a cardboard.
