Claims
- 1. A floral holding material for supporting a floral grouping, the floral holding material comprising:a preformed shape-sustaining support member selectively movable between a substantially flattened condition and an expanded condition, in the expanded condition the shape-sustaining support member having an open upper end, an open lower end and a peripheral sidewall defining an internal chamber extending between the open upper end and the open lower end of the shape-sustaining support member whereby, upon positioning a sheet of fluid impermeable material about the shape-sustaining support member, the internal chamber of the shape-sustaining support member cooperates with the sheet of fluid impermeable material to define a reservoir adapted to contain a liquid about a stem portion of the floral grouping when the stem portion of the floral grouping is disposed in the reservoir; and a locking assembly supported on the peripheral sidewall of the shape-sustaining support member for maintaining the shape-sustaining support member in the substantially flattened condition during storage and transportation of the shape-sustaining support member the shape-sustaining support member being formed of a substantially rigid material having sufficient memory such that upon releasing the locking assembly the shape-sustaining support member moves from the substantially flattened condition to the expanded condition.
- 2. A floral holding material for supporting a floral grouping, the floral holding material comprising:a shape-sustaining support member selectively movable between a substantially flattened condition and an expanded condition, in the expanded condition the shape-sustaining support member having an open upper end, an open lower end and a peripheral sidewall defining an internal chamber extending between the open upper end and the open lower end of the shape-sustaining support member; and a locking assembly supported on the peripheral sidewall of the shape-sustaining support member for maintaining the shape-sustaining support member in the substantially flattened condition for storage and transportation thereof, and wherein the shape-sustaining support member is formed of a substantially rigid material having sufficient memory such that upon releasing the locking assembly the shape-sustaining support member moves from the substantially flattened condition to the expanded condition.
- 3. The floral holding material of claim 2 wherein the locking assembly of the shape-sustaining support member comprises a male connector and a female connector, the male connector disposed along a portion of the peripheral sidewall of the shape-sustaining support member and the female connector disposed along a portion of the peripheral sidewall of the shape-sustaining support member, the male connector is disposed substantially opposite the female connector and the female connector matingly receiving the male connector for securing the shape-sustaining support member in the substantially flattened condition.
- 4. The floral holding material of claim 3 wherein the male connector of the shape-sustaining support member comprises a lug extending from the peripheral sidewall of the preformed shape-sustaining support member and into the internal chamber thereof and the female connector comprises an aperture formed in the peripheral sidewall of the shape-sustaining support member and positioned so as to matingly receive the lug when the shape-sustaining support member is moved to its folded position.
- 5. The floral holding material of claim 2 wherein the shape-sustaining support member is formed of a polymeric material.
- 6. A decorative assembly for supporting a floral grouping and adapted to contain a liquid about the stem portion of the floral grouping, the decorative assembly comprising:a preformed, shape-sustaining support member selectively movable between a substantially flattened condition and an expanded condition, in the expanded condition the preformed, shape-sustaining support member having an open upper end, an open lower end and a peripheral sidewall defining an internal chamber extending between the open upper end and the open lower end of the preformed, shape-sustaining support member; a locking assembly supported on the peripheral sidewall of the shape-sustaining support member for maintaining the shape-sustaining support member in the substantially flattened condition during storage and transportation, and wherein the shape-sustaining support member is formed of a substantially rigid material having sufficient memory such that upon releasing the locking assembly the shape-sustaining support member moves from the substantially flattened condition to the expanded condition; a sheet of fluid impermeable material disposed about the preformed, shape-sustaining support member to provide a decorative cover extending about the preformed, shape-sustaining support member, the sheet of fluid impermeable material sized such that when the decorative cover is formed about the preformed, shape-sustaining support member, a portion of the decorative cover extends a distance above the open upper end of the preformed, shape-sustaining support member, the decorative cover cooperating with the internal chamber of the preformed, shape-sustaining support member to define a reservoir for confining a liquid; and a securing element for securing the decorative cover about the preformed, shape-sustaining support member while maintaining at least a portion of the open upper end of the preformed, shape-sustaining support member substantially uncovered by the decorative cover.
- 7. The decorative assembly for supporting a floral grouping of claim 6 wherein the locking assembly comprises a male connector and a female connector, the male connector disposed along a portion of the peripheral sidewall of the shape-sustaining support member and the female connector disposed along a portion of the peripheral sidewall of the shape-sustaining support member such that the male connector is disposed substantially opposite the female connector and the female connector matingly receives the male connector for securing the shape-sustaining support member in the substantially flattened condition.
- 8. The decorative assembly for supporting a floral grouping of claim 7 wherein the male connector comprises a lug extending from the peripheral sidewall of the preformed, shape-sustaining member and into the internal chamber of the shape-sustaining support member and the female connector comprises an aperture sized to matingly receive the lug when the shape-sustaining support member is moved to its substantially flattened condition.
- 9. The decorative assembly for supporting a floral grouping of claim 6 wherein the locking assembly comprises a male connector and a female connector, the male connector disposed along a portion of the peripheral sidewall of the shape-sustaining support member and the female connector disposed along a portion of the peripheral sidewall of the shape-sustaining support member such that the male connector is disposed substantially opposite the female connector and the female connector matingly receives the male connector for securing the shape-sustaining support member in the substantially flattened condition, the male connector comprising a lug extending from the peripheral sidewall of the preformed, shape-sustaining member and into the internal chamber of the shape-sustaining support member and the female connector comprising an aperture sized to matingly receive the lug when the shape-sustaining support member is moved to its substantially flattened condition.
- 10. The decorative assembly for supporting a floral grouping of claim 6 wherein the shape-sustaining support member is formed of a polymeric material.
- 11. A decorative assembly for supporting a floral grouping and adapted to contain a liquid about the stem portion of the floral grouping, the decorative assembly comprising:a preformed, shape-sustaining support member selectively movable between a substantially flattened condition and an expanded condition, in the expanded condition the preformed, shape-sustaining support member having an open upper end, an open lower end and a peripheral sidewall defining an internal chamber extending between the open upper end and the open lower end of the preformed, shape-sustaining support member; a locking assembly supported on the peripheral sidewall of the shape-sustaining support member for maintaining the shape-sustaining support member in the substantially flattened condition for storage and transportation, and wherein the shape-sustaining support member is formed of a substantially rigid material having a sufficient memory such that upon releasing the locking assembly the shape-sustaining support member moves from the substantially flattened condition to the expanded condition; a fluid impermeable material disposed about the preformed, shape-sustaining support member to provide a decorative cover extending about the preformed, shape-sustaining support member, the fluid impermeable material sized such that when the decorative cover is formed about the preformed, shape-sustaining support member, a portion of the decorative cover extends a distance above the open upper end of the preformed, shape-sustaining support member, the decorative cover cooperating with the internal chamber of the preformed, shape-sustaining support member to define a reservoir for confining a liquid; and a securing element for securing the decorative cover about the preformed, shape-sustaining support member while maintaining at least a portion of the open upper end thereof substantially uncovered by the decorative cover.
- 12. The decorative assembly for supporting a floral grouping of claim 11 wherein the locking assembly comprises a male connector and a female connector, the male connector disposed along a portion of the peripheral sidewall of the shape-sustaining support member and the female connector disposed along a portion of the peripheral sidewall of the shape-sustaining support member such that the male connector is disposed substantially opposite the female connector and the female connector matingly receives the male connector for securing the shape-sustaining support member in the substantially flattened condition.
- 13. The decorative assembly for supporting a floral grouping of claim 12 wherein the male connector comprises a lug extending from the peripheral sidewall of the preformed, shape-sustaining member and into the internal chamber of the shape-sustaining support member and the female connector comprises an aperture sized to matingly receive the lug when the shape-sustaining support member is moved to its substantially flattened condition.
- 14. The decorative assembly for supporting a floral grouping of claim 11 wherein the locking assembly comprises a male connector and a female connector, the male connector disposed along a portion of the peripheral sidewall of the shape-sustaining support member and the female connector disposed along a portion of the peripheral sidewall of the shape-sustaining support member such that the male connector is disposed substantially opposite the female connector and the female connector matingly receives the male connector for securing the shape-sustaining support member in the substantially flattened condition, the male connector comprising a lug extending from the peripheral sidewall of the preformed, shape-sustaining member and into the internal chamber of the shape-sustaining support member and the female connector comprising an aperture sized to matingly receive the lug when the shape-sustaining support member is moved to its substantially flattened condition.
- 15. The decorative assembly for supporting a floral grouping of claim 11 wherein the shape-sustaining support member is formed of a polymeric material.
