Abstract
A chain link jewelry having a degree of flexibility in movement while retaining the aesthetic appearance of the jewelry piece, the jewelry comprising, a multiplicity of links connected together, each link having end portions and a center portion, wherein end portions are connected to each other through a loop and the links are connected to each other at end portions, wherein the ends of the portions do not contact a body surface or a wearer of the jewelry.
Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Field of the Invention

The present invention relates to jewelry and a method of forming jewelry to prevent and provide comfort from infections, rashes, bumps, hair snags and discomfort while maintaining aesthetic and other desirable appearances.


DISCUSSION OF THE BACKGROUND ART

There are some human or animal populations which have a variety of skin disorders, including pseudo-folliculitis barbae (ingrown facial hairs). Other uncomfortable skin disorders or conditions result from allergies to certain metals and/or, prolonged contact of jewelry with skin. Sweating or moisture on the skin or in the vicinity of the jewelry also creates problems with itching and sometimes festering of germs between the jewelry and the body (including skin). Some populations are particular prone to skin reactions to nickel or nickel alloys. The result is infections, rashes, bumps, hair snags and discomfort. Remedies have been proposed to alleviate or eliminate the occurrence and/or impact of the above with respect to the wearing of jewelry. Particularly, this pertains to the wearing of link chain jewelry which is worn around the neck, arm, leg (including ankle) or even parts of the bodies of humans, pets or other animals.


For nickel allergies, there has been proposed wearing only jewelry which minimizes or eliminates the nickel content in the metal used in the jewelry. Some proposals require a high purity gold (pure gold) or other precious metals which do not contain nickel at all. This has been found to eliminate some of the problems caused by the presence of nickel in the jewelry. However, eliminating nickel does not eliminate the problems associated with snagging of hairs, moisture around and under the jewelry piece, and rashes due to causes other than allergy to nickel and other metals.


In consideration of all of the above, there is a need for a product and method of forming a product that overcomes the limitations and disadvantages of the background art.


SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

Accordingly, the present invention is directed to one or more methods of manufacturing jewelry to provide a desired appearance and reducing and eliminating the problems associated with the background art.


Additional advantages, objects, and features of the invention will be set forth in part in the description which follows and in part will become apparent to those having ordinary skill in the art upon examination of the following or may be learned from practice of the invention. The objectives and other advantages of the invention may be realized and attained by the features particularly pointed out in the written description and claims hereof.


To achieve these objects and other advantages, there is provided a chain link jewelry having a degree of flexibility in movement while retaining the aesthetic appearance of the jewelry piece, the jewelry comprising, a multiplicity of links connected together, each link having end portions and a center portion, wherein end portions are connected to each other through a loop and the links are connected to each other at end portions, wherein the ends of the portions do not contact a body surface or a wearer of the jewelry, the end portions of the links having loose connections with each other through slight “S” shaped grooves, a curvature of the grooves having a dimension loose enough to provide for movement of each end portion to the left and to the right, the end portions of the links having a smaller thickness than a center portion of a link, the center portion of the link contacts with a surface of a body of a wearer, said center portion having a greater thickness than the end portions, said center portion having an “X” shape, end portions make only limited contact with a surface of a body of a wearer, make no contact with a surface of a body of the wearer, end portions which allows the link to swivel within a range, end portions at the end of each link, the end portions having a modified S shape, said end portions having a smaller thickness and a smaller width than the thickness and width of the center portion. dictated by the interlocking connections between an adjoining link, wherein for a neck size of 15.5 inches, a chain length of 25.5 inches and 40 links.


Preparation


Formation of jewelry and molding required for the present invention is well known in the art. The basic steps are creating a mold, pouring the material into the mold, and allowing the material to harden. Links are combined by methods which are well known in the art.





DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS


FIG. 1 shows drawing of the background art. The recessions and protrusions forming the linkage between link are rigid and inhibit flexibility in the free movement of the chain. Further the surfaces have a flatness which provides a greater surface area for contact with a wearer's skin.



FIGS. 2 and 3 shows the curvature of the chain links according to the present invention. The curvatures allow for smooth movement and minimum contact with the wearer's skin.



FIG. 4 shows another aspect of the chain link of the present invention.






FIGS. 5, 6, and 7 shows additional views of the chain link according to the present invention.

  • 1. A chain link jewelry having a degree of flexibility in movement while retaining the aesthetic appearance of the jewelry piece, the jewelry comprising: a multiplicity of links connected together, each link having end portions and a center portion, whereinend portions are connected to each other through a loop and the links are connected to each other at end portions, wherein the ends of the portions do not contact a body surface or a wearer of the jewelry;the end portions of the links having loose connections with each other through slight “S” shaped grooves;a curvature of the grooves having a dimension loose enough to provide for movement of each end portion to the left and to the right;the end portions of the links having a smaller thickness than a center portion of a link;the center portion of the link contacts with a surface of a body of a wearer, said center portion having a greater thickness than the end portions;said center portion having an “X” shape end portions make only limited contact with a surface of a body of a wearer make no contact with a surface of a body of the wearer;end portions which allows the link to swivel within a range;end portions at the end of each link, the end portions having a modified S shape, said end portions having a smaller thickness and a smaller width than the thickness and width of the center portion. dictated by the interlocking connections between an adjoining link which
