BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising an annular plate that has an inside edge and an outside edge. A first rim, positioned adjacent to the inside edge, and a second rim, positioned adjacent to the outside edge, are coupled to and extend perpendicularly from the annular plate. A plurality of first magnets is coupled to the annular plate. The toy comprises a car that comprises a plurality of second magnets. The second magnets are positioned on the car to repel the first magnets to suspend the car above the annular plate. The first rim and the second rim are positioned on the annular plate to retain the car between the first rim and the second rim. The car is configured to be motivated around the annular plate by a pushing action of a user.

There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.

The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWING(S)

The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:

FIG. 1 is a top view of a floating magnetic vehicle and track toy according to an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 2 is a detail view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 3 is a bottom view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 4 is an isometric perspective view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 5 is a cross-sectional view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 5 thereof, a new magnetic toy embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.

As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 5, the floating magnetic vehicle and track toy 10 generally comprises an annular plate 12 that has an inside edge 14 and an outside edge 16. The annular plate 12 has opposing side sections 18 and opposing ends sections 20. The opposing side sections 18 are linear. The opposing end sections 20 are arcuate. A first rim 22 is coupled to and extends perpendicularly from the annular plate 12 adjacent to the inside edge 14. A second rim 24 is coupled to and extends perpendicularly from the annular plate 12 adjacent to the outside edge 16.

A plurality of first magnets 26 is coupled to the annular plate 12. The first magnets 26 are positioned in a plurality of rows 28. Each row 28 extends annularly around the annular plate 12. The rows 28 are substantially evenly spaced between the inside edge 14 and the outside edge 16. In one embodiment, the plurality of rows 28 comprises three rows 28.

The toy 10 comprises a car 30 that comprises a plurality of second magnets 32. The second magnets 32 are positioned on the car 30 such that the second magnets 32 are positioned to repel the first magnets 26 to suspend the car 30 above the annular plate 12. The car 30 comprises a housing 34 and a plurality of rollers 36. The plurality of second magnets 32 is coupled to a bottom 38 of the housing 34. The plurality of second magnets 32 is positioned in a plurality of lines 40. The lines 40 are parallel. In one embodiment, the plurality of lines 40 comprises three lines 40. In another embodiment, the plurality of second magnets 32 comprises eighteen second magnets 32.

The plurality of rollers 36 is rotationally coupled to a side 42 of the housing 34. Each roller 36 comprises a pair of arms 44 that extends perpendicularly from the side 42 of the housing 34. A wheel 46 is positioned between the pair of arms 44 and is rotationally coupled to each of the pair of arms 44. The wheel 46 is perpendicular to the side 42 of the housing 34. In one embodiment, the plurality of rollers 36 comprises two rollers 36 that are positioned singly proximate to opposing ends 48 of the housing 34. The rollers 36 are positioned on the housing 34 such that the rollers 36 are positioned to rotate along the second rim 24 as the car 30 is motivated around the annular plate 12.

In use, the second magnets 32 are positioned on the car 30 such that the second magnets 32 are positioned to repel the first magnets 26 to suspend the car 30 above the annular plate 12. The first rim 22 and the second rim 24 are positioned on the annular plate 12 such that the first rim 22 and the second rim 24 are positioned to retain the car 30 between the first rim 22 and the second rim 24. The car 30 is configured to be motivated around the annular plate 12 by a pushing action of a user.

With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.

Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
