- 6. A floating roof for use in a storage tank for a liquid product comprising a roof frame having a plurality of girders with at least two of the plurality of girders intersecting each other at a given angle to form a girder junction, a plurality of buoyant pontoons coupled to an underside of the roof frame, at least one support leg assembly comprised of a support housing top assembly and a support tube adjustably positioned within the support housing top assembly, and a support housing assembly coupling the support leg assembly to the frame at the girder junction and having a pair of generally vertical outer wall portions intersecting each other at the given angle and each attached to a different one of the at least two of the plurality of girders adjacent the girder junction and at least one generally horizontally disposed portion surrounding and coupled to the support housing top assembly and coupled to the pair of generally vertical outer wall portions.
- 7. A floating roof in accordance with claim 6, wherein the at least one generally horizontally disposed portion comprises upper and lower portions surrounding and coupled to the support housing top assembly at vertically spaced-apart locations, the upper and lower portions being vertically spaced-apart and coupled to upper and lower edges of the pair of generally vertical outer wall portions.
- 8. A floating roof in accordance with claim 7, wherein the given angle is a generally right angle and the pair of generally vertical outer wall portions are comprised of an integrally formed mounting angle.
- 9. A floating roof in accordance with claim 8, wherein the bottom portion is comprised of a flange integrally formed with and extending from lower edges of the pair of generally vertical outer wall portions of the mounting angle.
- 10. A floating roof in accordance with claim 9, wherein the mounting angle has a pair of flanges extending into slots in the at least two of the plurality of girders forming the girder junction.
- 11. A floating roof in accordance with claim 10, further including a plurality of bolts extending through the pair of flanges and into the at least two of the plurality of girders.
- 12. A floating roof for use in a storage tank for a liquid product, comprising the combination of:
- a roof frame having a plurality of girders;
- a plurality of buoyant pontoons coupled to an underside of the roof frame; and
- a plurality of support legs capable of supporting the floating roof on a bottom of a storage tank in which the floating roof is used, each of the plurality of support legs being coupled to a pair of the plurality of girders of the roof frame adjacent a junction of the pair of girders by a support housing assembly coupled to the pair of girders;
- each of the plurality of support legs including a support tube adjustably positioned within a support housing top assembly and the support housing assembly including a top plate surrounding the support housing top assembly and a mounting angle having a lower flange surrounding the support housing top assembly in spaced-apart relation relative to the top plate, the mounting angle being comprised of two different portions forming a generally right angle with each other, each of the two different portions of the angle member being coupled to a different one of the pair of girders.
- 13. A floating roof in accordance with claim 12, wherein each of the pair of girders has a grooved slot extending along at least a portion of a length thereof and each of the two different portions of the angle member is coupled to an associated one of the pair of girders by a bolt extending through the portion of the angle member and into the grooved slot in the girder.
- 14. A floating roof in accordance with claim 13, wherein each of the two different portions of the angle member has a lateral flange extending into the grooved slot in the associated one of the pair of girders.
- 15. A floating roof in accordance with claim 12, further including deck sheeting mounted on the plurality of girders of the roof frame, and wherein the support housing top assembly has a circular flange mounted thereon and disposed on the deck sheeting and a plurality of bolts extending from the circular flange through the deck sheeting and the top plate.
- 16. A floating roof for use in a storage tank for a liquid product, comprising a roof frame having a plurality of buoyant pontoons coupled to an underside thereof to buoyantly support the floating roof on the liquid product, and a plurality of support legs for supporting the floating roof on a bottom of the storage tank when the liquid product reaches a lower level within the storage tank, each of the support legs being mounted exclusively on the roof frame so as to be uncoupled from and spaced from the plurality of buoyant pontoons, the roof frame including a plurality of girders joined to each other at generally right angles to form girder junctions, and each of the support legs being mounted on the roof frame at a different one of the girder junctions by a mounting assembly having fasteners extending into each of a pair of the girders forming the girder junction, the mounting assembly having a pair of flanges extending into slots in the pair of the girders forming the girder junction.
