Claims
- 1. A deck drain for draining liquids from a floating roof of a liquid product storage tank, comprising the combination of:
- a floating roof having a deck;
- a hollow drain tube extending downwardly from the deck of the floating roof at an upper open end thereof; and
- a check valve assembly coupled to the upper open end of the drain tube and operative to close off the upper open end of the drain tube except when liquid is present on the deck, the check valve assembly including a cage extending upwardly from the upper open end of the drain tube and a ball slideably disposed within the cage and operative to seat within and close off the upper open end of the drain tube when in a lowermost position.
- 2. A deck drain in accordance with claim 1, wherein the cage is comprised of a plurality of rods disposed in spaced-apart, parallel relationship and extending between a circular upper plate and a circular lower plate, and the ball is made of elastomeric material.
- 3. A deck drain for draining liquids from a floating roof of a liquid product storage tank, comprising the combination of:
- a floating roof having a deck;
- a hollow drain tube extending downwardly from the deck of the floating roof at an upper open end thereof; and
- a check valve assembly coupled to the upper open end of the drain tube and operative to close off the upper open end of the drain tube except when liquid is present on the deck, the check valve assembly including a cage extending upwardly from the upper open end of the drain tube and a ball slideably disposed within the cage and operative to seat within and close off the upper open end of the drain tube when in a lowermost position, the cage being comprised of a plurality of rods disposed in spaced-apart, parallel relationship and extending between a circular upper plate and a circular lower plate, the ball being made of elastomeric material, the circular lower plate being disposed on the deck, and further including a third circular plate mounting the upper open end of the drain tube therein and disposed at an underside of the deck opposite and being bolted to the circular lower plate through the deck.
