Claims
- 1. A method of operating a flock delivery system comprising the steps of
- defining a field of operation for a movable flock extracting unit;
- defining blocks within said field;
- moving the flock extracting unit within said field; and
- selectively actuating the flock extracting unit to remove fiber flocks from at least one of said blocks or to inhibit removal of fiber flocks from at least one of said blocks during movement of the unit within said field.
- 2. A method as set forth in claim 1 wherein the number of blocks is selectable from a predetermined maximum number thereof.
- 3. A method of operating a flock extracting unit comprising the steps of
- defining a field of operation containing at least two blocks of fiber bales;
- moving the flock extracting unit within said field for extracting fiber flocks from said blocks;
- programming the flock extracting unit to perform a predetermined operation in a selected block; and
- selectively releasing or inhibiting the flock extracting unit for performance of said predetermined operation in a selected block during movement within said field.
- 4. A method as set forth in claim 3 which further comprises the steps of
- recording the state of a selected block; and
- programming the flock extracting unit in accordance with the recorded state of a selected block upon movement of the flock extracting unit to said selected block.
- 5. A method as set forth in claim 3 wherein the field of operation contains two parallel rows of said blocks and the flock extracting unit is selectively movable over said blocks in predetermined sequence for the removal of fiber flocks.
- 6. A method as set forth in claim 5 wherein the flock extracting unit is movable from one row to the other row of said rows.
- 7. A flock extraction apparatus comprising
- means defining a track;
- a pair of ducts extending along said track for conveying fiber flock therethrough;
- a carrier movable along said track;
- a pair of flock extracting means extending in opposite directions from said carrier to opposite sides of said track;
- a transport duct extending from each said flock extracting means through said carrier to a respective duct for directing flock thereto; and
- means for actuating each said flock extracting means to selectively inhibit or perform a predetermined extracting operation in selected blocks of fiber bales disposed along said track.
- 8. A flock extraction apparatus as set forth in claim 7 further comprising means at one end of said track for selectively combining flocks from said ducts.
- 9. A method of operating a flock delivery system comprising the steps of
- defining a field of operation for a movable flock extracting unit;
- defining blocks within said field;
- moving the flock extracting unit within said field; and
- determining the relationship of the flock extracting unit relative to the defined blocks; and
- applying predetermined processing programs to the blocks individually in response to a determined relationship of the flock extracting unit to a defined block.
- 10. A method as set forth in claims 9 which further comprises the step of selectively actuating the flock extracting unit to remove fiber flocks from at least one of said blocks during movement of the unit within said field.
