Claims
- 1. A floor mat system, comprising:
a floor mat adapted for use on a floor, said floor mat being formed with a plurality of openings and at least two spaced-apart latching shoulders; the floor mat including a plurality of first ribs and a plurality of second ribs; the second ribs being substantially perpendicular to the first ribs to define the plurality of openings; the second ribs defining the latching shoulders; a clip removably secured to the floor mat to retain said floor mat adjacent the floor; the clip having a base and at least two spaced latching devices formed on the base for engaging the second ribs to retain said floor mat to said clip; the latching devices of the clip and the latching shoulders of the floor mat cooperating to allow the floor mat to be disengaged from the clip by lifting the floor mat upwardly away from the floor; at least one of the first ribs and second ribs being disposed intermediate the spaced latching devices when the latching devices are engaged with the second ribs and retaining means for retaining the clip to the floor.
- 2. The floor mat system of claim 1, wherein the second ribs including middle ribs and latching ribs; at least one middle rib being disposed between two latching ribs; and the latching shoulders being defined by the latching ribs.
- 3. The floor mat system of claim 2, wherein a middle rib is disposed intermediate the spaced latching devices.
- 4. The floor mat system of claim 3, wherein at least two middle ribs are disposed intermediate the spaced latching devices.
- 5. The floor mat system of claim 2, wherein the lower surface of the middle ribs is disposed above the lower surface of the latching ribs.
- 6. The floor mat system of claim 5, wherein the lower surface of the first ribs is disposed above the lower surface of the latching ribs.
- 7. The floor mat system of claim 6, wherein the lower surface of the middle ribs is disposed substantially coplanar with the lower surface of the first ribs.
- 8. The floor mat system of claim 2, wherein the upper surface of the first ribs is disposed higher than the upper surface of the second ribs.
- 9. The floor mat system of claim 8, wherein the upper surfaces of the middle ribs and latching ribs are substantially coplanar.
- 10. The floor mat system of claim 1, wherein a first rib is disposed intermediate the spaced latching devices.
- 11. The floor mat system of claim 10, wherein at least two first ribs are disposed intermediate the spaced latching devices.
- 12. The floor mat system of claim 1, wherein the clip includes first, second, and third spaced latching devices; at least one second rib disposed intermediate the first and second latching devices; and at least one first rib being disposed intermediate the first and third latching devices.
