Claims
- 1. A process for restoring the bulk of stretched nylon yarn comprising feeding the yarn into a humidifier zone containing a steam and gas mixture, the yarn being fed into the humidifier zone at a speed greater than that at which the yarn is removed therefrom to maintain a substantially constant yarn tension as the yarn expands radially in the humidifier zone, wherein the yarn is guided on rollers as it passes through the humidifier assembly, and the process includes applying a water/alcohol solution to the rollers.
- 2. A process of claim 1 for restoring the bulk of stretched nylon yarn wherein the yarn is fed into and removed from the humidifier zone by independent drives.
- 3. A process of claim 2 for restoring the bulk of stretched nylon yarn wherein the relative speeds of the independent drives are controlled to maintain a substantially constant yarn tension as the yarn expands in the humidifier zone.
- 4. A process of claim 3 including chilling at least one of the rollers.
