Claims
- 1. A profile plate for inducing pseudo-fully developed in fluid flowing under turbulent flow conditions in a pipeline of circular cross-section, the plate comprising a circular plate body having a center, an upstream face, and a downstream face, said body including:
- a central array of through bores having a porosity (P1) of from about 3.0 to about 5.0%, the through bores in said array having diameters d1, where: ##EQU5## and n1 is the number of through bores in the array; a second array of through bores centered on the locus of a second circle of diameter pcd2, where:
- pcd2=max {[0.4990-0.0065*(P3-P2)], 0.4500}
- the porosity (P2) of the second array ranging from about 19.0 to about 21.0%, and the hole size d2 of the through bores of the second array, where: ##EQU6## where n2 is the number of through bores in the second array; and a third array having a porosity (P3):
- P3=PT-(P1+P2)
- with through bores located on the locus of a circle, having a diameter pcd3, where:
- pcd3=[0.8575-0.0041* (P3-P2)]
- each of the through bores in said third array having a diameter d3, where: ##EQU7## wherein n3 is the number of through bores in the third array, and pcd2, pcd3, d1, d2, and d3 are dimensionless.
- 2. The plate of claim 1, wherein n1 is 3, n2 is 8, and n3 is 16.
- 3. A profile plate for inducing pseudo-fully developed in fluid flowing under turbulent flow conditions in a pipeline of circular cross-section, the plate comprising a circular plate body having a center, an upstream face, and a downstream face, said body including:
- a central array of through bores having a porosity (P1) of from about 3.0 to about 5.0%, the through bores in said array having diameters d1, where: ##EQU8## and n1 is the number of through bores in the array; a second array of through bores centered on the locus of a second circle of diameter pcd2, where:
- pcd2=max {[0,4990-0.0065*(P3-P2)],0.4500}
- the porosity (P2) of the second array ranging from about 19.0 to about 21.0%, and the hole size d2 of the through bores of the second array, where: ##EQU9## where n2 is the number of through bores in the second array; and a third array having a porosity (P3):
- P3=PT-(P1+P2)
- with through bores located on the loci of two circles, said circles having diameters pcd3.sub.1 and pcd3.sub.2, where:
- pcd3.sub.1 =0.917*[0.8575-0.0041* (P3-P2)]
- and
- pcd3.sub.2 =1.047*[0.8575-0.0041* (p3-P2)]
- each of the through bores in these arrays having a diameter d3 of about 0.112, where pcd2, pcd3.sub.1, pcd3.sub.2, and d1, d2, and d3 are dimensionless numbers.
- 4. The plate of claim 3, wherein n1 is 3, n2 is 8, and there are a total of about thirty-two through bores in the third and fourth arrays.
- 5. A profile plate for inducing pseudo-fully developed in fluid flowing under turbulent flow conditions in a pipeline of circular cross-section, the plate comprising a circular plate body having a center, an upstream face, and a downstream face, said body including:
- a central array of through bores having a porosity (P1) of from about 3.0 to about 5.0%, the through bores in said array having diameters d1, where: ##EQU10## and n1 is the number of through bores in the array; a second and third array of through bores centered on the loci of circles of diameter pcd2.sub.1 and pcd2.sub.2, respectively, where:
- pcd2.sub.1 =0.86* max {[0.4990-0.0065* (P3-P2)],0.45}
- and
- pcd2.sub.2 =1.22* max {[0.4990-0.0065* (P3-P2)],0.45}
- and the sum of the porosity (P2) of the second and third arrays ranges from about 19.0 to about 21.0% and the hole size of the through bores of the second and third arrays, d2, are about 0.112; and
- a fourth array having a porosity (P3):
- P3=PT-(P1+P2)
- with through bores located on the locus of a circle, having a diameter pcd3, where:
- pcd3=[0.8575-0.0041* (P3-P2)]
- each of the through bores in said third array having a diameter d3, where: ##EQU11## wherein n3 is the number of through bores in the third array, and where pcd2.sub.1, pcd2.sub.2, pcd3, d1, d2, and d3 are dimensionless.
- 6. The plate of claim 5, wherein n1 is 3, n2 is 16, and n3 is 16.
- 7. A profile plate for inducing pseudo-fully developed in fluid flowing under turbulent flow conditions in a pipeline of circular cross-section, the plate comprising a circular plate body having a center, an upstream face, and a downstream face, said body including:
- a central array of through bores having a porosity (P1) of from about 3.0 to about 5.0% the through bores in said array having diameters d1, where: ##EQU12## and n1 is the number of through bores in the array; a second and third array of through bores centered on the loci of circles of diameter pcd2.sub.1 and pcd2.sub.2, respectively, where:
- pcd2.sub.1 =0.86* max {[0.4990-0.0065* (P3-P2)],0.45}
- and
- pcd2.sub.2 =1.22* max {[0.4990-0.0065* (P3-P2)],0.45}
- and the sum of the porosity (P2) of the second and third array ranges from about 19.0 to about 21.0%, and the hole size of the through bores of the second and third arrays are about 0.112; and
- fourth and fifth arrays having a total porosity (P3):
- P3=PT-(P1+P2)
- with through bores centered on the loci of two circles, said circles having diameters pcd3.sub.1 and pcd3.sub.2, where:
- pcd3.sub.1 =0.917*[0.8575-0.0041* (P3-P2)]
- and
- pcd3.sub.2 =1.047*[0.8575-0.0041* (P3-P2)]
- each of the through bores in the fourth and fifth arrays having a diameter of about 0.112, where pcd2.sub.1, pcd2.sub.2, pcd3.sub.1, pcd3.sub.2, and d1 are dimensionless.
- 8. The plate of claim 7, wherein n1 is 3, n2 is 16, and n3 is 16.
