Claims
- 1. A fluid operated rotary valve comprising
- inlet means for introducing a fluid to said valve from an external fluid source,
- storage means defining a chamber for temporarily storing a quantity of said fluid therein,
- outlet means for discharging said quantity from said valve, said inlet, storage and outlet means each defining a fluid access opening spaced from and selectively aligned relative to one another, and
- means for slidably engaging said inlet, storage and outlet means in a continuous and substantially fluid tight manner, said engaging means defining at least one slot therein disposed for slidable engagement with each said opening in sequence and in a repetitive, cyclical manner, for slidably interconnecting said inlet to said storage means and, thereafter, said storage to said outlet means during successive portions of each cycle of said slidable engagement.
- 2. The valve of claim 1 further comprising a housing defining at least three chambers therein forming said inlet, storage and outlet means, respectively, each said opening communicating with an exterior surface of said housing.
- 3. The valve of claim 1 wherein said engaging means is rotatable.
- 4. The valve of claim 3 wherein said inlet, storage and outlet means are stationary relative to the movement of said slot.
- 5. A fluid operated rotary valve comprising
- inlet means for introducing a quantity of fluid to said valve from an external source,
- storage means defining a chamber for temporarily storing said quantity therein, said chamber defining a fluid access opening,
- outlet means for discharging said quantity from said valve, said inlet and outlet means each defining a fluid access opening spaced from and selectively aligned relative to one another, and
- means for slidably engaging said openings in a continuous, cyclical and substantially fluid tight manner for slidably interconnecting said inlet to said storage means and, thereafter, for slidably interconnecting said storage to said outlet means during separate and successive portions of each cycle of slidable engagement of said inlet and outlet means relative to said engaging means.
- 6. The valve of claim 5 wherein said fluid access opening of said storage means is fixedly spaced from and selectively aligned relative to the access openings of said inlet and outlet means, said valve further comprising at least one slot, separate and distinct from said storage means, disposed on said slidably engaging means for movement relative to said inlet, storage and outlet means.
