Claims
- 1. A fluorescent pigment consisting of N-substituted iminocoumarin of the general formula I, ##STR95## wherein X.sub.1 is a cyano group, a carboxamido group or a heteroaryl radical selected from the group consisting of pyridyl, thienyl, furyl, triazolyl, benzimidazolyl, benzoxazolyl, benzthiazolyl, quinoxalinyl and quinazolyl, which radical is unsubstituted or substituted by lower alkyl, lower alkoxy or halogen;
- X.sub.2 is (a) an amino group which is unsubstituted or mono- or di-substituted by lower alkyl or lower alkyl substituted by hydroxyl, nitrile, lower alkoxy, phenyl, phenylaminocarbonyloxy, phenoxy, halogen, lower alkoxycarbonyl, or acyloxy selected from benzoyloxy or acetyloxy, or by radicals ##STR96## (b) a heterocycle bound to the coumarin nucleus via the nitrogen atom selected from the group consisting of piperidine, pyrrolidine, morpholine, piperazine and ##STR97## (c) A hydroxy group or an alkoxy group; X.sub.3 is hydrogen, halogen or cyano; and
- X.sub.4 is a carboxylic acid group which has been esterified by a lower alkanol, or a cyano group.
- 2. An iminocoumarin pigment according to claim 1 characterised in that X.sub.1 is a carboxamido group and X.sub.2 is a dialkylamino group.
- 3. An iminocoumarin compound according to claim 1 characterised in that X.sub.1 is an heteroaryl group and X.sub.2 is a dialkylamino group.
- 4. An iminocoumarin compound according to claim 1 characterised in that X.sub.3 is a hydrogen atom or a cyano group.
- 5. An iminocoumarin compound according to claim 1 characterised in that the group X.sub.4 is a cyano group.
