Claims
- 1. A perfluorinated polyether having an average formula: ##STR32## wherein X and Z are the same or different and are selected from the group consisting of --(CF.sub.2).sub.r COF, --(CF.sub.2).sub.r OCF.sub.3, --(CF.sub.2).sub.r COOH and --C.sub.r F.sub.2r+1-q Cl.sub.q, wherein r is an integer from 1 to 12 and q is an integer from 0 to 25; wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are the same or different and are selected from the group consisting of --F, --Cl, --CF.sub.2 C.sub.1, --CFCl.sub.2, --CCl.sub.3, perfluoroalkyl of one to ten carbon atoms and perfluoroalkoxyalkyl of one to ten carbon atoms and provided that R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 together are not F and that the polyether includes at least one halogen atom other than fluorine.
- 2. The perfluorinated polyether of claim 1 wherein R.sub.1 is F, R.sub.2 is --CF.sub.2 Cl and X and Z are both --CF(CF.sub.2 Cl).sub.2.
- 3. A perfluorinated polyether having an average formula: ##STR33## wherein X and Z are --(CF.sub.2).sub.r OCF.sub.3 wherein r is an integer from 1 to 12; wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are the same or different and are selected from the group consisting of --F, --Cl, --CF.sub.2 Cl, --CFCl.sub.2, --CCl.sub.3, perfluoroalkyl of one to ten carbon atoms and perfluoroalkoxyalkyl of one to ten carbon atoms provided that R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 together are not F.
- 4. The perfluorinated polyether of claim 3 wherein one or more of the fluorine atoms is substituted by a halogen atom other than fluorine.
- 5. A perfluorinated polyether having an average formula: ##STR34## wherein X and Z are --(CF.sub.2).sub.r COOH wherein r is an integer from 1 to 12; wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are the same or different and are selected from the group consisting of --F, --Cl, --CF.sub.2 Cl, --CFCl.sub.2, --CCl.sub.3, perfluoroalkyl of one to ten carbon atoms and perfluoroalkoxyalkyl of one to ten carbon atoms provided that R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 together are not F.
- 6. The perfluorinated polyether of claim 5 wherein one or more of the fluorine atoms is substituted by a halogen atom other than fluorine.
- 7. A perfluorinated polyether having an average formula: ##STR35## wherein X and Z are --C.sub.r F.sub.2r+1-q Cl.sub.q, wherein r is an integer from 1 to 12 and q is an integer from 0 to 25 provided X or Z has at least one chlorine atom; wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are the same or different and are selected from the group consisting of --F, --Cl, --CF.sub.2 Cl, --CFCl.sub.2, --CCl.sub.3, perfluoroalkyl of one to ten carbon atoms and perfluoroalkoxyalkyl of one to ten carbon atoms provided that R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 together are not F, the polyether includes at least one halogen atom other than fluorine.
- 8. A perfluorinated polyether having an average formula: ##STR36## wherein X and Z are the same or different and are selected from the group consisting of --(CF.sub.2).sub.r COF, --(CF.sub.2).sub.r OCF.sub.3, --(CF.sub.2).sub.r COOH and --C.sub.r F.sub.2r+1-q Cl.sub.q, wherein r is an integer from 1 to 12 and q is an integer from 0 to 25; wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are the same or different and are selected from the group consisting of --F, --Cl, --CF.sub.2 CFCl.sub.2, --CCl.sub.3, perfluoroalkyl of one to ten carbon atoms and perfluoroalkoxyalkyl of one to ten carbon atoms provided that R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 together are not F and wherein the polyether comprises 12 or more carbon atoms.
