Claims
- 1. A polymer of solid form of chlorinated polyethylene having a surface conductive layer of about 40 microns or greater in thickness, the surface conductive layer being dehydrohalogenated highly oriented polymer molecules wherein the surface conductive layer has an electrical conductivity of about 10.sup.-9 /ohm cm or greater and has conjugated double bonds in the surface conductive layer.
- 2. The polymer of claim 1 including a yellow layer of highly oriented polymer beneath the brown surface layer.
- 3. The polymer of claim 2 wherein the surface layer is characterized by a reduction of chlorine content compared with unmodified chlorinated polyethylene, showing a decrease in chlorine concentration of about 10% or more in contrast with unmodified chlorinated polyethylene.
- 4. The polymer of claim 1 wherein the double bonds determine the electrical conductivity in the surface conductive layer.
- 5. A polymer of solid form of halogenated polyethylene having a surface conductive layer of modified electrical conductivity, the surface conductive layer having a highly oriented polymer molecule after dehydrohalogenation of about 10.sup.-9 /ohm cm or greater conductivity with conjugated double bonds in said conductive layer.
