Abstract
A foldable clipboard. The foldable clipboard includes a pair of support panels that are hinged together. The hinged design allows the clipboard to be conveniently folded for easy transportation and storage. The clipboard also can be unfolded into a substantially flat configuration.

Claims
  • 1. A foldable clipboard, comprising: a first, substantially-rigid, support panel;a second, substantially-rigid, support panel;a hinge pivotally connecting the first support panel to the second support panel such that the first support panel and the second support panel are moveable between a flat configuration and a folded configuration; anda flexible sheet attached to the first support panel and the second support panel, the flexible sheet configured to provide a substantially smooth writing surface when the first support panel and the second support panel are in the flat configuration.
  • 2. The foldable clipboard of claim 1, wherein the flexible sheet folds without creasing when the first support panel and the second support panel are in the folded configuration.
  • 3. The foldable clipboard of claim 1, wherein the flexible sheet is adhered to at least a portion of the first support panel and to at least a portion of the second support panel.
  • 4. The foldable clipboard of claim 3, wherein the first support panel includes an interior edge and the second support panel includes an interior edge, and wherein the flexible sheet is not adhered proximate the interior edge of the first support panel nor the interior edge of the second support panel.
  • 5. The foldable clipboard of claim 4, wherein the flexible sheet is not adhered to the first support panel within one inch of the interior edge of the first support panel nor to the second support panel within one inch of the interior edge of the second support panel.
  • 6. The foldable clipboard of claim 1, wherein the first support panel and the second support panel are substantially identically shaped.
  • 7. The foldable clipboard of claim 1, wherein each of the first support panel and the second support panel includes a substantially rectangular and substantially planar writing surface, and a hinge surface that is substantially perpendicular to the writing surface.
  • 8. The foldable clipboard of claim 7, wherein the hinge surface of the first support panel and the hinge surface of the second support panel are pivotably connected adjacent one another.
  • 9. The foldable clipboard of claim 1, wherein the flexible sheet includes reference information.
  • 10. The foldable clipboard of claim 1, wherein the first support panel and the second support panel are aluminum panels.
  • 11. The foldable clipboard of claim 1, wherein the first support panel and the second support panel are plastic panels.
  • 12. The foldable clipboard of claim 1, wherein the first support panel and the second support panel are each approximately 10 to 12 centimeters wide and approximately 28 to 30 centimeters tall.
  • 13. The foldable clipboard of claim 1, wherein the hinge includes pivoting connections at a top and a bottom of the clipboard.
  • 14. The foldable clipboard of claim 1, further comprising a clip operatively coupled to the first support-panel and configured to selectively hold papers.
  • 15. A foldable clipboard, comprising: a first, substantially-rigid, support panel;a second, substantially-rigid, support panel;a hinge pivotally connecting the first support panel to the second support panel such that the first support panel and the second support panel are moveable between a flat configuration and a folded configuration; anda clip connected to the first support panel.
  • 16. The foldable clipboard of claim 15, further comprising a flexible sheet attached to the first support panel and the second support panel, the flexible sheet configured to provide a substantially smooth writing surface when the first support panel and the second support panel are in the flat configuration.
  • 17. A foldable clipboard, comprising: a first, substantially-rigid, aluminum support panel;a second, substantially-rigid, aluminum support panel, the second support panel having the same shape as the first support panel, wherein each support panel is approximately 10 to 12 centimeters wide and approximately 28 to 30 centimeters tall;a hinge physically integrated with the first support panel and the second support panel and pivotally connecting the first support panel to the second support panel such that the first support panel and the second support panel are moveable between a flat configuration and a folded configuration;a flexible sheet adhered to at least a portion of the first support panel and at least a portion of the second support panel, wherein the flexible sheet is not adhered to the first support panel within one inch of an interior edge of the first support panel nor to the second support panel within one inch of an interior edge of the second support panel so that the flexible sheet folds without creasing when the first support panel and the second support panel are in the folded configuration, the flexible sheet including reference information and being configured to provide a substantially smooth writing surface when the first support panel and the second support panel are in the flat configuration; anda clip connected to the first support panel and configured to selectively hold papers.
