Claims
- 1. A gift box constructed from a flat blank of material comprising;
- a blank of material having first and second sides and having graphic material on at least said first side thereof, and having fold lines formed therein which define at least a bottom wall, four side walls coupled to said bottom wall by means of said fold lines, and bellows-type coupling members coupled to said side walls by means of said fold lines and adapted to couple adjacent ones of said side walls to one another, wherein each of the said bellows-type coupling members have fold lines formed therein which separate said bellows-type coupling members into at least two portions;
- said bellows-type coupling members adapted to be folded inwardly by means of said fold lines which separate said bellows-type coupling members, wherein inward folding of said bellows-type coupling members acts to draw the respective side walls to upstanding positions relative to said bottom wall, wherein said first side of said blank of material will be the exterior of said gift box, and said graphic material is provided at least upon said side walls and is registered in predetermined position and orientation with respect to the fold lines provided between said side walls and said bellows-type coupling members, such that upon assembly of said gift box and inward folding of said bellows-type coupling members, said graphic material on said side walls will be registered with graphic material on adjacent side walls when said side walls are in said upstanding positions relative to said bottom wall such that said graphic material will be matched and substantially continuous around the corner formed between said side walls.
- 2. The gift box in accordance with claim 1, further comprising,
- at least one top wall adapted to be folded into substantially parallel relationship with said bottom wall to enclose the interior of said gift box when in its assembled condition, said at least one top wall including means for securing said at least one top wall in said substantially parallel relationship with said bottom wall.
- 3. The gift box in accordance with claim 2, wherein,
- four top walls are provided, each of which is coupled to one of said side walls by means of fold lines to allow said top walls to be folded into said substantially parallel relationship with said bottom wall, wherein at least two of said top walls which are diametrically opposed to one another are adapted to be secured to one another by securing means to maintain the gift box in a closed, assembled configuration.
- 4. The gift box in accordance with claim 1, wherein,
- said fold lines which couple said bellows-type coupling members to said adjacent ones of said side walls form a joint at each corner of the assembled gift box which simulates the appearance of a gift box wrapped with wrapping paper.
- 5. The gift box in accordance with claim 1, wherein,
- said blank of material also has formed therein at least one punch-out portion which may be subsequently removed or partially removed from the blank of material, said at least one punch-out portion having graphic material thereon.
- 6. The gift box in accordance with claim 1, wherein,
- said blank of material is pre-folded to form a partially assembled container, said prefolding comprising folding at least two opposed side walls and said bellows-type coupling members associated therewith onto said bottom wall, and said securing bellows-type coupling members which are prefolded to the other side wall with which each is associated on one of said at least two portions at a predetermined position such that upon subsequent assembly of said gift box, each side wall will be located at a predetermined position with respect to the adjacent side walls of said gift box.
- 7. A gift box in accordance with claim 6, wherein,
- said one of said at least two portions of said bellows-type coupling members which are secured to said side walls are the portions of said bellows type coupling members which are immediately adjacent said side wall to which they are secured.
- 8. A gift box in accordance with claim 7, wherein,
- said fold lines separating said bellows-type coupling members into at least two portions are easily manipulated than those fold lines coupling bellows-type coupling members to adjacent side walls, such that upon the application of force to the side walls which have not been prefolded, said fold line separating said bellows-type coupling members will be automatically inwardly folded to draw the respective side walls to upstanding positions relative to said bottom wall.
- 9. The gift box in accordance with claim 2, wherein,
- said graphic material pre-printed on at least said first side of said blank of material is registered in predetermined relationship to said fold line coupling said at least one top wall to said side wall such that said graphic material on said at least one top wall will be registered with graphic material on said side walls when said gift box is assembled.
- 10. The gift box in accordance with claim 3, wherein,
- said graphic material pre-printed on at least said first side of said blank of material is registered in predetermined relationship to the fold lines coupling said four top walls to respective side walls such that upon folding of said top walls to said substantially parallel relationship with said bottom wall, the graphic material on each of said top walls is substantially registered with respect to graphic material on the other of said top walls.
- 11. The gift box in accordance with claim 1, wherein,
- said blank of material has formed therein at least one punch-out portion which may be subsequently removed from the blank of material to form a gift card.
- 12. The gift box in accordance with claim 1, wherein,
- said blank of material includes at least one slot formed therein which is adapted to accept and retain a separate gift card.
- 13. The gift box in accordance with claim 2, wherein,
- four top walls are provided, with two of said top walls formed in a rectilinear configuration and the other two of said top walls being formed in triangular configuration, wherein said rectilinear top walls are initially folded into said substantially parallel relationship with said bottom wall and subsequently said triangular top walls are folded to said substantially parallel relationship with respect to said bottom wall, wherein each of said top walls will then be exposed at approximately the center of the enclosed top of the gift box, with said graphic material pre-printed on at least said first side of said blank of material being substantially registered between said top walls when in their substantially parallel relationship with said bottom wall.
- 14. The gift box in accordance with claim 1, wherein,
- said fold lines coupling said side walls to said bellows-type coupling members are relatively narrow such that when folded they will form a sharp creased fold which will allow each of said side walls to be positioned in closely adjacent relationship when in their upstanding positions relative to said bottom wall.
- 15. The gift box in accordance with claim 7, wherein,
- said portions of said bellows-type coupling members are secured to said side walls by means of non-structural gluing thereof.
- 16. The gift box in accordance with claim 3, wherein,
- said fold lines coupling said top walls to said side walls are formed as hinged score lines to allow said top walls to be easily manipulated in both directions relative to said side walls.
- 17. The gift box in accordance with claim 7, wherein,
- the fold lines coupling said side walls to said bottom wall are score lines forming weakened zones, wherein said score lines are relatively broad to allow said side walls to be folded onto said bottom wall without substantially damaging the blank of material from which the container is formed, and substantially without cracking of said graphic material pre-printed on at least said first side.
- 18. The gift box in accordance with claim 3, wherein,
- at least two of said top walls which are diametrically opposed are dimensioned so as to slightly overlap when in their substantially parallel position relative to said bottom wall to allow said at least two top walls to be secured to one another.
- 19. The gift box in accordance with claim 18, wherein,
- said at least two overlapping top walls are secured to one another by means of an adhesive material associated with one of said overlapping top walls.
- 20. The gift box in accordance with claim 18, wherein,
- said at least two of said top walls which are diametrically opposed and adapted to be secured to one another are free from direct connection to one another and are secured to one another by means of a separate securing means.
