Claims
- 1. A method of operating a folder-sealer apparatus having (i) a roller assembly, (ii) an input guide, and (iii) a manual feed tray, comprising the steps of:
- advancing a first mailer form from an output mechanism of a printing device, through said input guide, and into a nip of said roller assembly during a first period of time;
- operating said roller assembly so as to fold and seal said first mailer form in response to said first mailer form advancing step;
- advancing a second mailer from said manual feed tray, through said input guide, and into said nip of said roller assembly during a second period of time; and
- operating said roller assembly so as to fold and seal said second mailer form in response to said second mailer form advancing step.
- 2. The method of claim 1, wherein said folder-sealer apparatus further has an output tray, further comprising the steps of:
- advancing said first mailer form from an output of said roller assembly to said output tray subsequent to said step of operating said roller assembly so as to fold and seal said first mailer form; and
- advancing said second mailer form from said output of said roller assembly to said output tray subsequent to said step of operating said roller assembly so as to fold and seal said second mailer form.
- 3. The method of claim 1, wherein said folder-sealer apparatus further has a controller that is electrically coupled to said printing device so as to control advancement of said first mailer form during said first mailer form advancing step.
- 4. The method of claim 1, wherein said folder-sealer apparatus further has a housing, further comprising the steps of:
- securing said manual feed tray to said housing prior to said second mailer form advancing step; and
- detaching said manual feed tray from said housing prior to said first mailer form advancing step.
- 5. The method of claim 1, wherein said folder-sealer apparatus further has a housing, further comprising the steps of:
- securing said housing to said printing device prior to said first mailer form advancing step; and
- detaching said housing from said printing device prior to said second mailer form advancing step.
- 6. The method of claim 1, wherein:
- said folder-sealer apparatus further has an input feed roller, and
- said second mailer form advancing step includes the step of operating said input feed roller so as to advance said second mailer form from said manual feed tray, through said input guide, and into said nip of said roller assembly.
- 7. The method of claim 6, wherein:
- said manual feed tray includes a paper cassette, and
- said second mailer form advancing step further includes the step of operating said input feed roller so as to advance said second mailer form out of said paper cassette, through said input guide, and into said nip of said roller assembly.
- 8. A folder-sealer apparatus for folding and sealing a number of mailer forms, comprising:
- a housing;
- a roller assembly for folding and sealing said number of mailer forms, said roller assembly being secured within said housing;
- an input guide for guiding said number of mailer forms into said housing and into a nip of said roller assembly, wherein said input guide is configured to receive a first mailer form of said number of mailer forms from an output mechanism of a printing device during a first period of time; and
- a manual feed tray which is securable to said housing, wherein said input guide is further configured to receive a second mailer form of said number of mailer forms from said manual feed tray when said manual feed tray is secured to said housing during a second period of time.
- 9. The folder-sealer apparatus of claim 8, further comprising an output tray, wherein both said first mailer form and said second mailer form of said number of mailer forms are advanced out of said roller assembly and into said output tray.
- 10. The folder-sealer apparatus of claim 8, further comprising a controller and a roller motor, wherein:
- an output shaft of said roller motor is mechanically coupled to said roller assembly,
- said controller is electrically coupled to said roller motor so as to control operation said roller assembly, and
- said controller is also electrically coupled to said printing device so as to control advancement of said first mailer form of said number of mailer forms from said output mechanism of said printing device to said roller assembly during said first period of time.
- 11. The folder-sealer apparatus of claim 8, wherein:
- said folder-sealer apparatus is operable in a manual-feed mode of operation and a printer-feed mode of operation,
- said manual feed tray is attached to said housing so as to allow a user to manually feed said second mailer form of said number of mailer forms into said input guide when said folder-sealer apparatus is operated in said manual-feed mode of operation, and
- said manual feed tray is detached from said housing when said folder-sealer apparatus is operated in said printer-feed mode of operation.
- 12. The folder-sealer apparatus of claim 11, wherein said housing is secured to said printing device when said folder-sealer apparatus is operated in said printer-feed operation such that said output mechanism of said printing device is operable to advance said first mailer form of said number of mailer forms into said input guide.
- 13. The folder-sealer apparatus of claim 11 wherein:
- said housing is secured to said printing device when said folder-sealer apparatus is operated in said printer-feed mode of operation, and
- said housing is spaced apart from said printing device when said folder-sealer apparatus is operated in said manual-feed mode of operation.
- 14. The folder-sealer apparatus of claim 8, wherein:
- said manual input tray includes a paper cassette, and
- said paper cassette is configured to store a plurality of said number of mailer forms.
- 15. The folder-sealer apparatus of claim 14, further comprising:
- an input feed roller; and
- an input drive motor having an output shaft which is mechanically coupled to said input feed roller, wherein said input drive motor is configured to drive said input feed roller so as to advance said plurality of said number of mailer forms out of said paper cassette and into said input guide.
