Claims
- 1. In a food product breading machine:a breading material reservoir; a breading station; a food product loading location; a discharge location from which breaded food products are discharged from the machine; a conveyor comprising a perforate conveyor belt extending through said reservoir, loading location, breading station, and discharge location; a breading material support for supporting breading material at said breading station and extending toward said loading location for supporting breading material being conveyed to said breading station; a reservoir intake opening below the conveyor belt between the breading station and the discharge location through which breading material exiting the breading station passes as breaded food products are conveyed to the discharge location; and, a breading director movable to a position beneath said conveyor belt between said breading station and said discharge location for diverting breading material from falling from said conveyor through said reservoir intake opening while supporting breading material adjacent said belt so that the breading material is conveyed to said discharge location and said reservoir empties.
- 2. The food product breading machine claimed in claim 1 wherein said breading director comprises a breading material support plate supported below the conveyor belt adjacent the intake opening, a shaft supporting the plate for movement relative to the conveyor belt, and an operating handle for manually positioning the plate beneath the conveyor belt for emptying the reservoir.
- 3. The food product breading machine claimed in claim 2 wherein said operating handle is integral with the plate and projects therefrom between a reservoir side-wall and the conveyor belt.
- 4. The food product breading machine claimed in claim 1 further comprising a one-piece breading flow restrictor located at the breading station, said restrictor riding over food products passing through the breading station and supported adjacent one end by the breading machine, said restrictor member biased toward engagement with food products at the breading station, said restrictor having a side confronting the breading station defining a projecting lobe that mounds breading material at the breading station and assures that flat food products passing the breading station are fully breaded.
- 5. The food product breading machine claimed in claim 1 further comprising a breading deflector flange projecting from a reservoir wall toward the loading location for deflecting packed breading material being conveyed to the loading location that would otherwise spill from the reservoir.
- 6. A food product breading machine comprising:a breading material reservoir; a breading station above the reservoir; a food product loading location; a discharge location from which breaded food products are discharged from the machine; a conveyor system extending through the reservoir, loading location, breading station, and discharge location; a breading material support for supporting breading material at the breading station, said breading material support extending toward the loading location for supporting breading material being conveyed to the breading station; and, a one-piece breading flow restrictor located at the breading station, said restrictor riding over food products passing through the breading station and supported adjacent one end by the breading machine, said restrictor member biased toward engagement with food products at the breading station, said restrictor having a side confronting the breading station defining a projecting lobe that mounds breading material at the breading station and assures that flat food products passing the breading station are fully breaded.
- 7. The breading machine claimed in claim 6 wherein said conveyor system comprises a perforate conveyor belt and further comprising a breading director movable to a position beneath said conveyor belt between said breading station and said discharge location for supporting breading material adjacent said belt so that the breading material is conveyed to said discharge location and said reservoir empties.
- 8. The food product breading machine claimed in claim 6 further comprising a breading deflector flange projecting from a reservoir wall toward the loading location for deflecting packed breading material being conveyed to the loading location that would otherwise spill from the reservoir.
- 9. A food product breading machine comprising:a breading material reservoir; a breading station above the reservoir; a food product loading location; a discharge location from which breaded food products are discharged from the machine; a conveyor belt extending through the reservoir, loading location, breading station, and discharge location, said conveyor belt conveying breading material from the reservoir to the loading location and then to the breading station; a breading material support for supporting breading material at the breading station and extending toward the loading location for supporting breading material being conveyed to the breading station; a breading deflector flange projecting from a reservoir wall toward the loading location for deflecting packed breading material being conveyed to the loading location that would otherwise spill from the reservoir.
- 10. The breading machine claimed in claim 9 wherein said conveyor belt is perforate and further comprising a breading director movable to a position beneath said conveyor belt between said breading station and said discharge location for supporting breading material adjacent said belt so that the breading material is conveyed to said discharge location and said reservoir empties.
- 11. A food product breading machine comprising:a breading material reservoir; a breading station; a food product loading location; a discharge location from which breaded food products are discharged from the machine, a conveyor comprising a perforate conveyor belt extending through said reservoir, loading location, breading station, and discharge location; a breading material support for supporting breading material at said breading station and extending toward said loading location for supporting breading material being conveyed to said breading station; a reservoir intake opening below the conveyor belt between the breading station arid the discharge location through which breading material exiting the breading station passes as breaded food products are conveyed to the discharge location; a breading director movable to a position beneath said conveyor belt between said breading station and said discharge location for diverting breading material from falling from said conveyor through said reservoir intake opening while supporting breading material adjacent said belt so that the breading material is conveyed to said discharge location and said reservoir empties; a breading deflector flange projecting from a reservoir wall toward the loading location for deflecting packed breading material being conveyed to the loading location that would otherwise spill from the reservoir; and, a one-piece breading flow restrictor located at the breading station, said restrictor riding over food products passing through the breading station and supported adjacent one end by the breading machine, said restrictor member biased toward engagement with food products at the breading station, said restrictor having a side confronting the breading station defining a projecting lobe that mounds breading material at the breading station and assures that flat food products passing the breading station are fully breaded.
