Claims
- 1. A support surface comprising:
a cover defining an interior region; a mattress core located in the interior region; and a weight sensor located in the interior region, the weight sensor being separate from the mattress core and configured to provide an output indicative of an actual weight of a person located on the patient support.
- 2. The patient support of claim 1, wherein the mattress core includes a plurality of air bladders located in the interior region.
- 3. The patient support of claim 1, wherein weight sensor includes a force sensing material located in the interior region separate from the mattress core.
- 4. The patient support of claim 3, wherein the mattress core includes at least one controllable pressure section, and further comprising a controller configured to adjust pressure in the at least one pressure section based on a force sensed by the force sensing material.
- 5. The patient support of claim 1, wherein the weight sensor includes an air bladder.
- 6. The patient support of claim 1, wherein the weight sensor is located on top of the mattress core.
- 7. The patient support of claim 1, further comprising a processor configured to at least one of monitor, record, and display the person's weight based on the output of the weight sensor.
- 8. The patient support of claim 1, further comprising at least one of a heart rate sensor, an apnea sensor, a respiration sensor, and a temperature sensor located in the interior region.
- 9. A support surface comprising:
a cover defining an interior region; a mattress core located in the interior region; a force sensor located in the interior region, the force sensor providing an output signal; and a controller coupled to the force sensor, the controller being configured to activate an alarm selectively based on a position of a person relative to the support surface.
- 10. The patient support of claim 9, wherein the controller activates the alarm when a person exits the support surface.
- 11. The patient support of claim 9, further comprising a weight sensor located in the interior region, the weight sensor providing an output indicative of an actual weight of a person located on the patient support.
- 12. The patient support of claim 9, wherein the force sensor is separate from the mattress core.
- 13. The patient support of claim 9, wherein the mattress core includes a plurality of air bladders located in the interior region.
- 14. The patient support of claim 9, wherein the mattress core includes at least one controllable pressure section, and the controller is configured to adjust pressure in the at least one pressure section based on a force sensed by the force sensor.
- 15. The patient support of claim 9, wherein the force sensor is located on top of the mattress core.
- 16. The patient support of claim 9, further comprising at least one of a heart rate sensor, an apnea sensor, a respiration sensor, and a temperature sensor located in the interior region.
- 17. A support surface apparatus comprising:
a cover defining an interior region; at least one air bladder located in the interior region for supporting a person; a force sensor located in the interior region; an air supply coupled to the at least one air bladder; and a controller coupled to the force sensor, the controller being configured to adjust air pressure within the at least one air bladder based on the force detected by the force sensor, the controller also being configured to activate an alarm selectively based on a position of the person relative to the support surface.
- 18. The patient support of claim 17, wherein the controller activates the alarm when a person exits the support surface.
- 19. The patient support of claim 17, further comprising a weight sensor located in the interior region, the weight sensor providing an output indicative of an actual weight of a person located on the patient support.
- 20. The patient support of claim 17, wherein the force sensor is separate from the at least one air bladder.
