- 16. The apparatus of claim 15, wherein the charge pinching device includes at least one plate arranged to pinch the first portion.
- 17. The apparatus of claim 15, wherein the charge pinching device includes at least one second bladder arranged to pinch the first portion.
- 18. The apparatus of claim 15, wherein the charge pinching device includes at least one of a flexible tip, a spring board, a feather board, an elastic fairing, a compressible material, a pivoting pad, and a spring-loaded pad.
- 19. The apparatus of claim 10, further comprising at least one heater arranged to heat the composite charge.
- 20. The apparatus of claim 19, wherein the heater includes at least one heater plate.
- 21. An apparatus for forming composite materials, the apparatus comprising:
a mandrel with a first surface, a first side, and a second side; a mold having a first side that is arranged to urge a first side of a composite charge against the first side of the mandrel, the mold having a second side that is arranged to urge a second side of the composite charge against the second side of the mandrel; a first support adjacent the first side of the mold, the first support being arranged to hold substantially parallel to the first surface at least a portion of the first side of the composite charge that overhangs the mandrel; and a second support adjacent the second side of the mold, the second support being arranged to hold substantially parallel to the first surface at least a portion of the second side of the composite charge that overhangs the mandrel.
- 22. The apparatus of claim 21, further comprising means for moving the mold towards the mandrel.
- 23. The apparatus of claim 21, wherein the mold includes at least one urging device arranged to urge the composite charge against the mandrel.
- 24. The apparatus of claim 23, wherein the urging device includes at least one first bladder arranged to urge the composite charge against the mandrel.
- 25. The apparatus of claim 23, wherein the urging device includes at least one tip arranged to urge the composite charge against the mandrel.
