Claims
- 1. A prefabricated fireplace assembly, comprising:
(a) a fireplace box defining a combustion chamber; and (b) a framework of building materials connected to operatively support said fireplace box; said framework forming an integral part of the fireplace assembly, that remains connected to the fireplace assembly when it is installed within a building structure.
- 2. The fireplace assembly of claim 1, wherein said framework is of a configuration that is directly mountable within a rough framing opening of a building structure.
- 3. The fireplace assembly of claim 1, further including at least one mounting flange connected to said framework, said flange having an extended portion for connection to a peripheral frame portion of a building rough opening; wherein said flange when so connected to said building frame portion supports with said framework, the fireplace assembly within said rough opening.
- 4. The fireplace assembly of claim 1, wherein said fireplace box comprises a ceramic combustion chamber.
- 5. The fireplace assembly of claim 4, wherein said ceramic combustion chamber is of molded construction.
- 6. The fireplace assembly of claim 4, further comprising a support flange operatively connected to said ceramic combustion chamber; and wherein said framework is operatively connected to said flange.
- 7. The fireplace assembly of claim 6, wherein said flange is embedded within said molded ceramic.
- 8. The fireplace assembly of claim 1, wherein said framework is configured in part to become part of an external wall of a building in which the fireplace assembly is to be installed.
- 9. The fireplace assembly of claim 1, wherein said fireplace box comprises a direct vented configuration.
- 10. The fireplace assembly of claim 1, wherein said fireplace box comprises metal construction.
- 11. The fireplace assembly of claim 1, wherein other than for said framework, said fireplace box does not have an outer protective shroud of material.
- 12. The fireplace assembly of claim 1, wherein said framework comprises wooden building materials.
- 13. The fireplace assembly of claim 1, wherein said fireplace box comprises a non-porous one piece open fireplace box.
- 14. The fireplace assembly of claim 1, wherein said fireplace assembly includes a gas burner, mountable in said fireplace box.
- 15. The fireplace assembly of claim 1, wherein said framework acts as a shipping container for the fireplace assembly.
- 16. A prefabricated fireplace assembly module of a type suitable for zero tolerance installation within a rough opening of a building framework, wherein heat generated by use of said fireplace assembly will not reach predetermined unsafe levels for said building framework comprising:
(a) an external framework of building materials of a type directly compatible and configured for mounting to said opening building framework; and (b) an open fireplace box fixedly mounted to and carried by said external framework and bordered by said external framework on at least three sides of said fireplace box.
- 17. The prefabricated fireplace assembly as recited in claim 16, wherein said external framework encloses said fireplace box on at least three sides thereof.
- 18. The prefabricated fireplace assembly module of claim 16, wherein said firebox comprises a molded ceramic box having one or more mounting flanges integrally molded therein for securing said fireplace box to said external framework.
- 19. A method of manufacturing a prefabricated fireplace assembly module comprising the steps of:
(a) forming a fireplace box having a combustion chamber; (b) forming a framework of building materials about said fireplace box; and (c) mounting said fireplace box to said framework; wherein said fireplace box and connected framework collectively form a prefabricated fireplace assembly module.
