Claims
- 1. A ceramic composite panel comprising:
- a) a pair of fiber reinforced ceramic matrix composite skins disposed in spaced relationship to one another, said pair of skins made of reinforcing fibers disposed throughout a pre-ceramic resin in a ceramic state; and,
- b) a ceramic foam made of a cured mixture of a pre-ceramic resin and a phenolic resin disposed between said pair of skins and bonded to respective facing surfaces of said pair of skins.
- 2. The ceramic composite panel of claim 1 wherein:
- said pair of skins are in parallel spaced relationship.
- 3. The ceramic composite panel of claim 1 wherein:
- said pair of skins are spaced further apart at areas of increased strength.
- 4. The ceramic composite panel of claim 1 wherein:
- said ceramic foam comprises a pre-ceramic resin having open and/or closed cells therein wherein the resin is in its ceramic state.
- 5. A ceramic composite panel comprising:
- a) a pair of skins disposed in spaced relationship to one another, said pair of skins comprising reinforcing fibers disposed throughout a pre-ceramic resin in a ceramic state: and
- b) a ceramic foam disposed between said pair of skins, said ceramic foam comprising a cured mixture of a pre-ceramic resin and a phenolic resin.
- 6. The ceramic composite panel of claim 5 wherein:
- said pair of skins are in parallel spaced relationship.
- 7. The ceramic composite panel of claim 5 wherein:
- said spaced relationship is variable from a first distance to a second distance.
- 8. The ceramic composite panel of claim 5 wherein:
- said spaced relationship is comprised of at least a first distance and a second distance.
- 9. The ceramic composite panel of claim 8 wherein:
- a first amount of foam is disposed between said pair of skins at said first distance and a second amount of foam is disposed between said pair of skins at said second distance.
- 10. The ceramic composite panel of claim 5 wherein:
- said ceramic foam comprises a pre-ceramic resin having at least one of open and closed cells located therein, wherein the pre-ceramic resin is in a ceramic state.
- 11. The ceramic composite panel of claim 7 wherein:
- said ceramic foam is comprised of a cured mixture of a liquid pre-ceramic resin and a liquid phenolic resin completely broken-down to a ceramic state.
