four upstanding first posts defining the corners of a freestanding frame of the enclosure; a plurality of upstanding second posts, horizontally spaced between upstanding first posts; a plurality of cross rails, wherein at least two cross rails are vertically spaced and extend between respective upstanding first posts and upstanding second posts; a plurality of connector fittings for releasably securing the cross rails to the upstanding first posts and second posts and forming the freestanding frame for the enclosure; a plurality of panels releasably secured to a plurality of the cross rails, upstanding first posts and upstanding secured posts; and a door pivotally mounted to one of the upstanding first posts and upstanding second posts.
- 2. A freestanding enclosure as recited in claim 1, wherein at least one of the panels defines a substrate forming a mounting surface for securing a fixture thereto.
- 3. A freestanding enclosure as recited in claim 2, further comprising a fixture in the form of a bucket holder secured to the mounting surface.
- 4. A freestanding enclosure as recited in claim 2, further comprising a fixture in the form of a tether secured to the mounting surface.
- 5. A freestanding enclosure as recited in claim 2, further comprising a roof secured to the freestanding frame.
- 6. A freestanding enclosure as recited in claim 1, wherein a plurality of the panels are mesh for providing ventilation and sight lines, and substantially preventing bugs from passing therethrough.
- 7. A freestanding enclosure as recited in claim 1, wherein the connector fittings secured to two of the four upstanding first posts are T-shaped connector fittings for receiving a portion of a second frame to thereby have a second area of retention which shares a common wall.
- 8. A freestanding enclosure as recited in claim 7, further comprising a second freestanding frame mounted to the T-shaped connectors, the second freestanding frame defining an area of retention for a large animal.
- 9. A freestanding enclosure as recited in claim 1, wherein the connector fittings on the four upstanding first posts are L-shaped connector fittings.
- 10. A freestanding enclosure as recited in claim 1, wherein the connector fittings on the four upstanding first posts are cross-shaped connector fittings.
- 11. A freestanding enclosure for temporarily retaining large animals comprising:
a freestanding frame defining an area of retention within the enclosure, the freestanding frame including:
at least three first frame members; a plurality of second frame members, wherein at least one second frame member is horizontally spaced between respective first frame members; a plurality of third frame members, wherein at least two third frame members are vertically spaced and extend between respective first and second frame members; and first means for releasably securing the first, second and third frame members to form the freestanding frame of the enclosure; second means secured to the frame for enclosing the frame, providing a mounting surface for receiving at least one fixture related to animal husbandry and providing an area through which large animals can see outside the enclosure; and third means mounted to the frame for selectively closing a passageway to the area of retention.
- 12. A freestanding enclosure as recited in claim 11, wherein the first means for releasably securing is selected from the group including T-shaped female fittings, L-shaped female fittings, cross-shaped female fittings and straight female fittings.
- 13. A freestanding enclosure as recited in claim 11, wherein the second means is a plurality of panels.
- 14. A freestanding enclosure as recited in claim 13, wherein the panels on a top portion of the freestanding frame are mesh to allow ventilation.
- 15. A freestanding enclosure as recited in claim 10, wherein one of the panels is a rigid panel defining a mounting surface.
- 16. A freestanding enclosure as recited in claim 15, wherein the solid panel is wood.
- 17. A freestanding enclosure as recited in claim 11, further comprising a roof secured to the freestanding frame for shielding the area of retention from rain, snow and sun.
