DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Referring to the drawings note in FIGS. 1,2, and 3 that the wig 10 is a full wig including a fabric body 12 to which the individual hair 11 strands are attached. Preferably, the fabric body includes a lace front 18 across the forehead and a lace nape to enhance the aesthetic characteristics of the wig. As such the wig may be worn alone or the wig may be augmented as described herein.

Referring to FIG. 3 note that the hair on the wig overlies and conceals an attachment strip sewn 13 to the fabric of the wig. The attachment strip is bounded on either side by hair strands 11 such that in normal wear the attachment strip 13 is not visible, so only by lifting the hair strands 11 above the attachment strip may the strip 13 be seen. In some embodiments a layer of fabric 17 may overlay the attachment strip to avoid entanglement of the hair strands 11 when no add-on hair attachment is in place as illustrated in FIG. 4. The attachment strip is secured to the fabric body which may be a lace wig base or may be any other mesh fabric suitable for use in securing the hair strands of the wig and conforming to the wearer's head. The attachment strip 13 is the connective line for the attachment members which may be snaps as shown at 15 in FIG. 5, or snaps 15 may be replaced by hooks, hook and pile fastener such as Velcro®, clips, or any other suitable attachment member.

Referring to FIG. 9, it may be seen that the add-on attachment 16 utilizes a mating attachment strip 14 and connected stands of hair 18 attached thereto. As will be understood the attachment strip 14 is configured with mating snaps, hooks, loops or other connective members to mate with the attachment members 15 found on attachment strip 13. As may be seen in FIGS. 6 and 7, the hair 11 is pulled back to expose attachment strip 13 and the mating attachment strip 14 is positioned to engage the attachment members and the connection members seen in FIG. 8 once the add-on attachment is in place, the attachment strip 14 overlies the connection and conceals the attachment members 15 such that when the hair 11 is combed over the connection the hair on the add on appears to be growing naturally in place. It is to be understood that attachment strip 13 may be considerably longer than mating attachment strip 14 such that multiple add-on attachments 16 may be affixed along attachment strip 13 as desired. The add-on may be used to add highlights to the wig such as by adding a different color hair strands without having to dye part of the wig or buy a different wig with a pre-configured highlight. Thus the add-on may also make a fashion statement by the length and width of the variegated hair strand without permanently altering the wig.

While in the foregoing specification this invention has been described in relation to certain embodiments thereof, and many details have been put forth for the purpose of illustration, it will be apparent to those skilled in the art that the invention is susceptible to additional embodiments and that certain of the details described herein can be varied considerably without departing from the basic principles of the invention.
