Claims
- 1. A pyrimidine derivative having the formula: ##STR34## or a salt thereof wherein X is an atom of oxygen or sulphur; R.sub.1 is hydrogen; R.sub.2 is hydrogen, alkyl containing not more than 6 carbon atoms or alkenyl containing not more than 6 carbon atoms; phenyl or halo- or methyl-substituted phenyl, cyclohexyl or acetyl; R.sub.4 is alkyl containing not more than 6 carbon atoms or a phenyl radical; R.sub.5 is hydrogen, or alkyl containing not more than 6 carbon atoms or alkenyl containing not more than 6 carbon atoms; R.sub.6 is alkyl containing not more than 6 carbon atoms.
- 2. A pyrimidine derivative according to claim 1 wherein R.sub.2 is alkyl; R.sub.4 is alkyl and R.sub.5 is hydrogen.
- 3. A pyrimidine derivative according to claim 1 having the formula ##STR35##
- 4. A fungicidal composition comprising, as active ingredient, a fungicidally effective amount of a pyrimidine derivative according to claim 1 and a major amount of an inert carrier therefor.
- 5. A fungicidal composition comprising, as active ingredient, a fungicidally effective amount of a pyrimidine derivative according to claim 2 and a major amount of an inert carrier therefor.
- 6. A fungicidal composition comprising, as active ingredient, a fungicidally effective amount of a pyrimidine derivative according to claim 3 and a major amount of an inert carrier therefor.
- 7. A method of combating plant fungus which comprises applying to a plant or to seeds thereof, a fungicidally effective amount of a pyrimidine derivative as defined in claim 1.
- 8. The method of claim 7 wherein the pyrimidine derivative is one wherein R.sub.2 is alkyl; R.sub.4 is alkyl and R.sub.5 is hydrogen.
- 9. The method of claim 7 in which the pyrimidine derivative has the formula: ##STR36##
- 10. A method for treating agricultural soil to combat undesired plant fungus comprising applying to the soil a fungicidally effective amount of a pyrimidine derivative as defined in claim 1.
