Claims
- 1. A furnace for the formation of a black oxide film on the surface of a thin metal sheet, comprising:
- a tunnel-like furnace provided at one terminal side thereof with an inlet and at the other terminal side thereof with an outlet;
- openable shutter means for partitioning the interior of said furnace into at least first and second region on front and rear sides respectively in the direction of conveyance of said thin metal sheet;
- conveying means disposed inside said furnace and extending from said inlet through said outlet for conveying said thin metal sheet from said inlet to said outlet;
- first driving means disposed in said first region for driving a first portion of said conveyor means;
- second driving means disposed in said second region for driving a second portion of said conveyor means independent of said first portion;
- means for abruptly increasing the speed of said first conveyor portion relative to said second conveyor portion immediately prior to a thin metal sheet being conveyed from said first to second region;
- first supply means for feeding mixed gas into said first region, said mixed gas containing carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide and containing substantially no oxygen or a mixed gas containing carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and steam and containing substantially no oxygen;
- second gas supply means for feeding a mixed gas into said second region of said furnace, said mixed gas containing carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and oxygen and containing substantially no steam; and
- heating means for heating said first region to a temperature in the range of 500.degree. to 650.degree. C. and said second region to a temperature in the range of 100.degree. to 300.degree. C.
- 2. A furnace for the formation of a black oxide film on the surface of a thin metal sheet having iron and nickel as principal components thereof, comprising:
- a tunnel-like furnace provided at one terminal side thereof with an inlet and at the other terminal side thereof with an outlet;
- a first region disposed on said inlet side of said furnace, said first region having a first mixed gas atmosphere of CO:CO.sub.2 :STEAM in a ratio of 1:5-20:30-50, respectively, and containing substantially no oxygen;
- a second region disposed on the outlet side of said furnace, said second region having a second mixed gas atmosphere of CO and CO.sub.2 in a ratio of 1:5-10 respectively and containing substantially no steam;
- at least one thin Ivar metal sheet;
- conveying means disposed inside said furnace and extending from said inlet through said outlet thereof for conveying said thin Ivar metal sheet from said inlet to said outlet;
- openable shutter means for partitioning the interior of said furnace into at least said first and second regions;
- first gas supply means for feeding said first mixed gas into said first region on said inlet side of said furnace;
- second gas supply means for feeding said second mixed gas into said second region on said outlet side of said furnace;
- first heating means for heating said first region to a temperature in the range of 500.degree. to 650.degree. C. to cause the first mixed gas to react with the Ivar metal sheet and form a substantially uniform black film thereon;
- second heating means for heating said second region to a temperature in the range of 100.degree. to 300.degree. C. to cause the black film to have high density and adhesiveness; and
- detection means for detecting at a prescribed position, the approach of said thin metal sheet being forwarded by said conveying means, said detection means for communicating with said shutter means to open said shutter means upon the approach of said thin metal sheet and to close said shutter means when said thin metal sheet has passed through said shutter means.
- 3. The furnace according to claim 1 or claim 2, wherein said conveying means is a roller conveyor.
- 4. The furnace according to claim 1 or claim 2, wherein said first region includes preheating means for preheating said thin metal sheet and a first purge region, said shutter means disposed therebetween for limiting the flow of gas between said preheating means and said first purge region.
- 5. The furnace according to claim 1 or claim 2, wherein said second region includes a second purge region for releasing said thin metal sheet treated in said second region from said furnace and means for cooling said thin metal sheet, said shutter means disposed therebetween for limiting the flow of gas between said second purge region and said cooling means.
