Furniture glides are known which are inserted into pieces of furniture. For example, such furniture glides can be fastened on chairs, particularly inserted into hollow chair legs. The furniture glides comprise a gliding surface, which serves, depending on the floor covering, to reduce the friction resistance between the furniture glide and the floor covering or to adjust it to a desired degree.
Pieces of furniture equipped with such conventional furniture glides sometimes cause considerable noise when the piece of furniture, particularly the chair, is moved over different floor coverings, originating from the vibrations of the piece of furniture.
The objective of the invention comprises to provide a furniture glide, by which noises developing during the movement of the piece of furniture are reduced or even avoided entirely.
The objective is attained according to the invention in a furniture glide having the features of claim 1.
Advantageous embodiments and further developments of the invention are shown in the dependent claims.
The furniture glide according to the invention comprises a vibration damping sleeve, which can be pressed into a piece of furniture, whereby a gliding surface can be inserted into the vibration damping sleeve. According to the invention, the vibrations developing when the piece of furniture is moved are accepted by the vibration damping sleeve, here largely absorbed, and reduced to a minimum. Here, particularly the vibration damping sleeve is in direct contact with the piece of furniture, allowing that the vibrations can be absorbed particularly well.
Preferably the vibration damping sleeve is made from a noise-absorbing material, particularly rubber or felt, in order to particularly effectively suppress the vibrations.
According to a beneficial further development of the invention the vibration damping sleeve comprises a flange, in order to avoid that the vibration damping sleeve, for example when used in chair legs embodied as hollow tubes, is impressed too far into the respective piece of furniture.
In an embodiment of the invention the gliding surface is directly inserted into the vibration damping sleeve. According to a particularly preferred embodiment of the invention the gliding surface is inserted into the gliding surface accepting member, though, which is inserted into the vibration damping sleeve. This allows a simple and cost-effective production process when different gliding surfaces are used, each of which being inserted into a type of gliding surface accepting member.
Particularly preferred the gliding surface is inserted into the gliding surface accepting member in an interchangeable fashion in order to allow a flexible use of the furniture glide.
Advantageously the gliding surface accepting member is produced from metal or plastic in order to allow a simple and cost-effective production of stable gliding surface accepting members.
According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention the gliding surface or the gliding surface accepting member comprises a shape which upon impression or insertion into the vibration damping sleeve leads to a fixed connection, particularly a round, square, rectangular, oval, or other shape. This way, a particularly simple assembly of the furniture glide is allowed.
Particularly preferred the fixed connection between the gliding surface or the gliding surface accepting member on the one side and the vibration damping sleeve on the other side is produced by ribs or a shape like a cone, which allows a particularly reliable connection.
According to a particularly preferred embodiment of the invention the vibration damping sleeve comprises a slot. This allows the insertion of the vibration damping sleeve also into hollow spaces in pieces of furniture which show smaller or larger exterior dimensions than the vibration damping sleeve so that a good compensation of tolerances is possible.
In order to stabilize the vibration damping sleeve an at least partially existing limit of the slot in the interior circumference of the vibration damping sleeve has proven particularly beneficial by the use of an area with a smaller radial extension, for example a film.
The invention is explained in greater detail using the following figures. It shows:

The furniture glide according to
According to the exemplary embodiment shown the gliding surface 4 is inserted into a gliding surface accepting member 3, which is inserted into the vibration damping sleeve 2a. Here, the gliding surface 4 is inserted into the gliding surface accepting member, particularly flexible in an interchangeable fashion, and thus comprises particularly no fixed or permanent connection to the gliding surface accepting member 3. This allows a simple exchange of the gliding surfaces 4, so that the pieces of furniture can be equipped with the furniture glides appropriate for the respective floor covering. The gliding surface 3 is particularly produced from metal or plastic. Furthermore, the gliding surface accepting member shows a shape, which upon impression or insertion into the vibration damping sleeve 2a leads to a fixed connection. For this purpose, the gliding surface accepting member 3 particularly comprises a round, square, rectangular, oval, or other shape. Presently, the gliding surface accepting member 3 shows an essentially round cross-section which comprises several ribs 3b over its circumference, with their exterior diameter essentially matching the interior diameter of the vibration damping sleeve 2a so that a fixed connection is created between the gliding surface accepting member 3 and the vibration damping sleeve 2a. The fixed connection between the gliding surface accepting member 3 and the vibration damping sleeve 2a can also be produced by ribs extending in the longitudinal direction. Alternatively the fixed connection between the gliding surface accepting member 3 and the vibration damping sleeve 2a can also be created by a shape similar to a cone, arranged either at the gliding surface accepting member 3 or also in the vibration damping sleeve 2a.
In an alternative embodiment, an appropriately shaped gliding surface 4 can be directly inserted into the vibration damping sleeve 2a. Here, the gliding surface 4 may be embodied as shown in the figure or provided with an appropriate connection piece, which is inserted into the vibration damping sleeve 2a. For example the gliding surface 4 is connected in one piece with the gliding surface accepting member 3 and this way forms a gliding surface 4 that can be directly inserted into the vibration damping sleeve 2a.
In order to improve the connection between the vibration damping sleeve 2a and the piece of furniture 1, ribs may be arranged in the longitudinal or lateral direction on the exterior of the vibration damping sleeve 2a, the exterior of the vibration damping sleeve 2a may comprise an appropriate structure or the exterior of the vibration damping sleeve 2a or the interior surface of the recess in the piece of furniture 1 may show a form similar to a cone.
The connection of the gliding surface 4 directly in the vibration damping sleeve 2a may occur in a similar fashion as the fastening of the gliding surface accepting member 3 in the vibration damping sleeve 2a.
The fastening of the gliding surface 4 in the gliding surface accepting member 3 can occur with any arbitrary fastening mechanism. For example, the gliding surface 4 can be impressed or glued into the gliding surface accepting member 3. Preferably the gliding surface 4 is fastened in the gliding surface accepting member 3 via a latching mechanism, which is detachable in a simple fashion so that the gliding surface 4 is flexibly interchangeable.
a and 2b show an alternative embodiment of a vibration damping sleeve 2a′. The vibration damping sleeve 2a′ is also embodied essentially as a cylindrical hollow body, having a flange 2b′ framing an edge. In order to allow inserting the vibration damping sleeve 2a′ also into a hollow space on or in a piece of furniture 1, which shows relatively large tolerances and is larger or smaller than the exterior dimensions of the vibration damping sleeve 2a′, the vibration damping sleeve 2a′ comprises at its exterior circumference an axially extending slot 2c′. This slot may also extend over the entire radial extension of the vibration damping sleeve 2a′ or may be limited at the interior circumference of the vibration damping sleeve 2a′ by an area with a smaller radial extension than the vibration damping sleeve 2a′, for example by a film 2d′. Here the film 2d′ may extend either over the entire axial length of the slot 2c′ or over one or more axial sections of the length of the slot 2c′. Additionally, the film 2d′ may be embodied completely circumferential or comprise two film elements 2e, 2f, which are either arranged overlapping, mitered, or with a small distance from each other at the interior circumference of the vibration damping sleeve 2a′. Such a film 2d′ has proven advantageous for stabilizing the vibration damping sleeve 2a′.
The vibration damping sleeve 2a′ is also produced from a noise-absorbing material, particularly rubber or felt.
