Claims
- 1. A compound selected from the group consisting of ##STR34## and the pharmaceutically-acceptable cationic salts thereof wherein R.degree. is selected from the group consisting of hydroxy, alkoxy having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, hydroxyalkoxy having 2 to 4 carbon atoms, amino and hydroxyamino;
- each of R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl and alkoxy having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, halo, benzyloxy, hydroxy, thiol, alkanoyloxy having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, benzylthio, benzoyloxy, benzylsulfinyl, methylthio and methylsulfinyl and
- R.sub.2 and R.sub.3, and R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 when taken together are selected from the group consisting of methylenedioxy and ethylenedioxy.
- 2. A compound according to claim 1 wherein each of R.sub.2, R.sub.3, and R.sub.4 is hydrogen; and R.degree. is hydroxy.
- 3. A compound according to claim 1 wherein R.sub.2 is hydrogen; each of R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 is alkoxy; and R.degree. is hydroxy.
- 4. A compound according to claim 1 wherein R.degree. is ethoxy.
- 5. A compound according to claim 3 wherein each of R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 is methoxy.
- 6. The method of controlling allergic symptons in a mammalian subject which comprises administering to the subject an allergy sympton-controlling amount of a compound selected from the group consisting of ##STR35## and the pharmaceutically-acceptable cationic salts thereof wherein R.degree. is selected from the group consisting of hydroxy, alkoxy having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, hydroxyalkoxy having 2 to 4 carbon atoms, amino and hydroxyamino;
- each of R.sub.2, R.sub.3, R.sub.4, and R.sub.5 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl and alkoxy having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, halo, benzyloxy, hydroxy, thiol, alkanoyloxy having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, benzylthio, benzylsulfinyl, benzoyloxy, methylthio, and methylsulfinyl and
- R.sub.2 and R.sub.3, and R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 when taken together are selected from the group consisting of methylenedioxy and ethylenedioxy.
- 7. The method of claim 6 wherein each of R.sub.2, R.sub.3, and R.sub.4 is hydrogen and R.degree. is hydroxy.
- 8. A pharmaceutical composition active as an antiallergy agent comprising a compound selected from the group consisting of ##STR36## and the pharmaceutically-acceptable cationic salts thereof wherein R.degree. is selected from the group consisting of hydroxy, alkoxy having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, hydroxyalkoxy having 2 to 4 carbon atoms, amino and hydroxyamino;
- each of R.sub.2, R.sub.3, R.sub.4, and R.sub.5 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, alkyl and alkoxy having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, halo, benzyloxy, hydroxy, thiol, alkanoyloxy having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, benzylthio, benzoyloxy, benzylsulfinyl, methylthio, and methylsulfinyl and
- R.sub.2 and R.sub.3, and R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 when taken together are selected from the group consisting of methylenedioxy and ethylenedioxy
- and a pharmaceutical carrier, said antiallergy agent being present in an amount of from about 0.5 to about 95% by weight of the carrier.
- 9. A pharmaceutical composition as claimed in claim 8 in a form suitable for administration by inhalation.
- 10. A pharmaceutical composition as claimed in claim 8 comprising a solution or suspension of the antiallergy agent in water.
- 11. A pharmaceutical composition as claimed in claim 8 comprising a suspension of the antiallergy agent in a liquefied propellant.
- 12. A pharmaceutical composition as claimed in claim 8 comprising the solid antiallergy agent and a solid diluent.
- 13. The composition according to claim 8 wherein each of R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 is hydrogen and R.degree. is hydroxy.
- 14. A composition according to claim 8 wherein R.degree. is ethoxy, R.sub.2 is hydrogen and each of R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 is alkoxy.
- 15. The composition according to claim 14 wherein each of R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 is methoxy.
