Abstract
A game system comprises two game boards, each game board having a front and a back; each game board comprising a first shelf in the front that runs the width of each game board above the bottom, the first shelf comprising six vertical boards, forming five slots, each slot having points assigned to it; each of the six vertical boards comprising a rounded bevel on a top leading edge of each of the six vertical boards; each game board comprising a second shelf centered below the top at the front of each game board, the second shelf having point assigned to it.
Description
TECHNICAL FIELD

This disclosure relates to a game system and a method of playing a game using the game system. The game is called “Pitch'N Slide.”


BACKGROUND

We love games and can't get enough, from monopoly to chess, etc. More please.


SUMMARY

In one aspect, this disclosure provides a game system with two game boards, a first game board and a second game board, each game board having a front and a back and 4 sides, a top, with a front top leading edge and a back top leading edge, a bottom, with a front bottom leading edge and a back bottom leading edge, a right side, and a left side.


In some embodiments, front of each game board is 30-38 inches wide and 38-42 inches tall;

    • each game board comprises a first shelf that is 1-1.5 inch in depth, 3.5-5 inches long, and 34-38 inches wide in the front of each game board that runs the width of each game board at 2.5-5 inches above the bottom; the first shelf comprises six vertical boards, each of which being 1-1.5 inches in depth, 3.5-4.5 inches wide, and 9-11 inches tall, forming five slots, each slot being 5.5-6.5 inches wide, each slot having points assigned to it;
    • each of the six vertical boards comprises a 1-1.5 inch rounded bevel on a top leading edge of each of the six vertical boards;
    • each game board comprises a 9-11 inches wide second shelf centered 9-13 inches below the top at the front of each game board, the second shelf having point assigned to it;
    • the back of each game board is edged with 1.5-2.5 inches by 1.5-2.5 inches boards and comprises two legs made from 1.5 inches by 1.5 inches boards attached with hinges to the back (in some embodiments, to the top of the back) to allow each game board to sit at a 25°-35° playing angle. In some embodiments, the game system further comprises 14-18 ounce bean bags. In further embodiments, the game system comprises 8 bean bags. When playing, the two game boards are set 20-30 feet apart from each other from the front bottom leading edge of each game board such that the front of the two game boards faces each other.


In some embodiments, front of each game board is between 22-26 inches wide and 30-34 inches tall; each game board comprises a first shelf that is between 1-1.5 inch in depth, 3.5-5 inches long, and 22-26 inches wide in the front of each game board that runs the width of each game board at 2.5-5 inches above the bottom; the first shelf comprises six vertical boards, each of which being 1-1.5 inches in depth, 3.5-4.5 inches wide and 6-10 inches tall, forming five slots, each slot being 3-5 inches wide, each slot having points assigned to it; each of the six vertical boards comprises a 1-1.5 inch rounded bevel on a top leading edge of each of the six vertical boards; each game board comprises a 7-9 inches wide second shelf centered 7-10 inches below the top at the front of each game board, the second shelf having point assigned to it; the back of each game board is edged with 1.5-2.5 inches by 1.5-2.5 inches boards and comprises two legs made from 1.5 inches by 1.5 inches boards attached with hinges to the back (in some embodiments, to the top of the back) to allow each game board to sit at a 25-35° playing angle. In some embodiments, the game system further comprises 10-14 ounce bean bags. This game system is more portable and more fit for playing while traveling.


In another aspect, this disclosure provides a method of playing a game comprising: playing with four players as two teams of two players each team, using a disclosed game system; each team having four bean bags;

    • placing a first player of a first team at the first game board and the second team's first player at the first game board; placing the first team's second player at the second game board and the second team's second player at the second game board;
    • each team alternately throwing a bean bag to the opposite game board with the players on each team alternating, until all bags have been played to conclude a round, the object being to throw the bag inside one of the five slots of the first shelf or the second shelf of the opposite game board;
    • when throwing, each player keeping at least one foot behind the leading edge of the game board nearest the player;
    • after each round, counting the score for each team; wherein:
    • bags that hit the ground prior to the opposite game board do not count and are immediately removed from play;
    • a bag that cover-up the other team's bag is cancelled at a one-to-one ratio;
    • a bag that hangs above the slots at the bottom must have a minimum of two corners in the slot to count as valid for score;
    • a bag that hangs on the bottom of the slot counts, even if only one corner is in the slot, so long as the bag does not touch the ground; and
    • a bag that has at least one corner on the second shelf is counted as a valid score;
    • the team that scores the highest during a round determines the order of play for the next round;
    • each game ends at 50 points but only at the end of a round and if both teams are over 50 points at the end of that round, the team with the highest score wins.


In another aspect, the disclosure provides a method of playing a game comprising: playing with two players, using a disclosed game system;

    • each player having four bean bags;
    • placing a player at the first game board and the other player at the second game board; each player alternately throwing a bean bag to the opposite game board, until all bags have been played to conclude a round, after each throw, the players switch game boards, the object being to throw the bag inside one of the five slots or the second shelf of the opposite game board; when throwing, each player keeping at least one foot behind the leading edge of the game board nearest the player;
    • after each round, counting the score for each player; wherein:
    • bags that hit the ground prior to the opposite game board do not count and are immediately removed from play;
    • a bag that covers up the other player's bag is cancelled at a one-to-one ratio;
    • a bag that hangs above the slots at the bottom must have a minimum of two corners in the slot to count as valid for score;
    • a bag that hangs on the bottom of the slot counts, even if only one corner is in the slot, so long as the bag does not touch the ground; and
    • a bag that has at least one corner on the second shelf is counted as a valid score;
    • the player that scores the highest during a round determines the order of play for the next round;
    • each game ends at 50 points but only at the end of a round and if both players are over 50 points at the end of that round, the player with the highest score wins.

In one aspect, this disclosure provides a game system with two game boards, a first game board and a second game board, each game board having a front and a back and 4 sides, a top, with a front top leading edge and a back top leading edge, a bottom, with a front bottom leading edge and a back bottom leading edge, a right side, and a left side.


In some embodiments, front of each game board is 30-38 inches wide and 38-42 inches tall;

    • each game board comprises a first shelf that is 1-1.5 inch in depth, 3.5-5 inches long, and 34-38 inches wide in the front of each game board that runs the width of each game board at 2.5-5 inches above the bottom; the first shelf comprises six vertical boards, each of which being 1-1.5 inches in depth, 3.5-4.5 inches wide, and 9-11 inches tall, forming five slots, each slot being 5.5-6.5 inches wide, each slot having points assigned to it;
    • each of the six vertical boards comprises a 1-1.5 inch rounded bevel on a top leading edge of each of the six vertical boards;
    • each game board comprises a 9-11 inches wide second shelf centered 9-13 inches below the top at the front of each game board, the second shelf having point assigned to it;
    • the back of each game board is edged with 1.5-2.5 inches by 1.5-2.5 inches boards and comprises two legs made from 1.5 inches by 1.5 inches boards attached with hinges to the back (in some embodiments, to the top of the back) to allow each game board to sit at a 25°-35° playing angle. In some embodiments, the game system further comprises 14-18 ounce bean bags. In further embodiments, the game system comprises 8 bean bags. When playing, the two game boards are set 20-30 feet apart from each other from the front bottom leading edge of each game board such that the front of the two game boards faces each other.


In some embodiments, each game board is between 22-26 inches wide and 30-34 inches tall; each game board comprises a first shelf that is between 1-1.5 inch in depth, 3.5-5 inches long, and 22-26 inches wide in the front of each game board that runs the width of each game board at 2.5-5 inches above the bottom; the first shelf comprises six vertical boards, each of which being 1-1.5 inches in depth, 3.5-4.5 inches wide and 6-10 inches tall, forming five slots, each slot being 3-5 inches wide, each slot having points assigned to it; each of the six vertical boards comprises a 1-1.5 inch rounded bevel on a top leading edge of each of the six vertical boards; each game board comprises a 7-9 inches wide second shelf centered 7-10 inches below the top at the front of each game board, the second shelf having point assigned to it; the back of each game board is edged with 1.5-2.5 inches by 1.5-2.5 inches boards and comprises two legs made from 1.5 inches by 1.5 inches boards attached with hinges to the back (in some embodiments, to the top of the back) to allow each game board to sit at a 25-35° playing angle. In some embodiments, the game system further comprises 10-14 ounce bean bags. This game system is more portable and more fit for playing while traveling. Thus, this is the “travel” version.


In some embodiments, each game board is 36 inches wide and 40 inches tall. In some embodiments, the two game boards are set 25 feet apart from each other from the bottom leading edge of each game board. In some embodiments, each game board comprises a first shelf that is 1 inch in depth, 4 inches tall, and 36 inches wide in the front of each game board that runs the width of each game board at 3″ above the bottom with 6 vertical boards, each vertical board being 1 inch in depth, 4 inches wide, and 10 inches tall, forming five slots, each being 6 inches tall; each of the six vertical boards comprising a 1.5 inch rounded bevel on a top leading edge of each of the six vertical boards. In some embodiments, each game board has a 10 inches wide second shelf centered 12 inches below the top at the front of each game board. In some embodiments, the back of each game board is edged with 2 inches by 2 inches boards and comprises two legs made from 2 inches by 2 inches boards attached with hinges to the back to allow each game board to sit at a 55° playing angle.


In some embodiments, each game board is 36 inches wide and 40 inches tall; the two game boards are set 25 feet apart from each other from the bottom leading edge of each game board; each game board comprising a first shelf that is 1 inch in depth, 4 inches tall, and 36 inches wide in the front of each game board that runs the width of each game board at 3″ above the bottom with 6 vertical boards, each vertical board being 1 inch in depth, 4 inches wide, and 10 inches tall, forming five slots, each slot being 6 inches tall; each of the six vertical boards comprising a 1.5 inch rounded bevel on a top leading edge of each of the six vertical boards; each game board comprising a 10 inches wide second shelf centered 10 inches from the top at the front of each game board; the back of each game board being edged with 2 inches by 2 inches boards and having two legs made from 2 inches by 2 inches boards attached with hinges to the back (in some embodiments, to the top of the back) to allow each game board to sit at a 55° playing angle.


In some embodiments, the legs in the back of each game board is each 32″ long and the legs are connected with a “hinge” at the top to the front of the game board; the bottom of the leg sits 32″ from the base of the front of the game board, with a connecting device from the front of the game board to the leg to keep the board upright and at the correct angle for play.


In some embodiments, the disclosed game system further comprises bean bags. In further embodiments, each bean bag is 14-18 ounces in weight. In yet further embodiments, each bean bag is 16 ounces in weight. In some embodiments, the game system further comprises eight bean bags. In further embodiments, the game system further comprises eight 14-18 ounces bean bags. In yet further embodiments, the game system comprises eight 16 ounces bean bags.


In some embodiments, the second shelf is assigned 10 pints, the two outermost slots of the first shelf are assigned 1 point each; the two slots immediately adjacent to the two outermost slots are assigned 3 points each; the centermost slot of the first shelf is assigned 5 points. The point assignments can be any suitable point assignment.


In another aspect, this disclosure provides a method of playing a game comprising: playing with four players as two teams of two players each team, using a disclosed game system; each team having four bean bags;

    • placing a first player of a first team at the first game board and the second team's first player at the first game board; placing the first team's second player at the second game board and the second team's second player at the second game board;
    • each team alternately throwing a bean bag to the opposite game board with the players on each team alternating, until all bags have been played to conclude a round, the object being to throw the bag inside one of the five slots of the first shelf or the second shelf of the opposite game board;
    • when throwing, each player keeping at least one foot behind the leading edge of the game board nearest the player;

In further embodiments, each bean bag is 14-18 ounces in weight. In yet further embodiments, each bean bag is 16 ounces in weight. In some embodiments, the game system further comprises eight bean bags. In further embodiments, the game system further comprises eight 14-18 ounces bean bags. In yet further embodiments, the game system comprises eight 16 ounces bean bags.


In other further embodiments, each bean bag is 10-14 ounces in weight. In some embodiments, the game system further comprises eight bean bags. In further embodiments, the game system further comprises eight 10-14 ounces bean bags.


In some embodiments, the second shelf is assigned 10 pints, the two outermost slots of the first shelf are assigned 1 point each; the two slots immediately adjacent to the two outermost slots are assigned 3 points each; the centermost slot of the first shelf is assigned 5 points. The point assignments can be any suitable point assignment.


The game can be played anywhere. In some embodiments, the game is played outdoors.


The game boards can be made with any suitable material, such as, for example, wood, hard plastic, etc. In some embodiments, the game boards are made of wooden lumber for the structure. In some embodiments, the game boards have metal hinges for the back legs. The boards can be painted, to any color. Vinyl stencils can be used to write on the game boards. The bean bags can be made with any suitable material.


The game boards and the bean bags can be made by conventional methods.


The game is called “Pitch'N Slide.”


These and other embodiments of the invention are described below with reference to FIG. 1-FIG. 4.


An embodiment of the disclosed game system 100 is shown in FIG. 1. The system 100 comprises two game boards 101 and 102. Each game board 101 and game board 102 comprises a first shelf 103 and 104, respectively, in the front of each game board 101 and 102. Each of the first shelf 103 and 104 runs the width of each game board 101 and 102 at 3 inches above the bottom and comprises 6 vertical boards forming 5 slots. The outermost slots are assigned 1 point each; the two slots immediately adjacent to the two outermost slots are assigned 3 points each; and the center slot is assigned 5 points. Each of the six vertical boards comprises a 1.5 inch rounded bevel on a top leading edge of each of the six vertical boards. Each game board 101 and game board 102 comprises a 10 inches wide second shelf 105 and 106, respectively, centered 12 inches below the top at the front of each game board, each being assigned 10 points. The back (not shown) of each game board is edged with 2 inches by 2 inches boards and has two legs attached with hinges to the back to allow each game board to sit at a suitable playing angle. The system 100 further comprises 4 bean bags 107 and another 4 bean bags 108.


An embodiment of a game board is shown in FIG. 2. The game board 200 comprises a first shelf 201, in the front of game board 200. The first shelf 201 runs the width of game board 200 at 3 inches above the bottom and comprises 6 vertical boards forming 5 slots. The outermost slots are assigned 1 point each; the two slots immediately adjacent to the two outermost slots are assigned 3 points each; and the center slot is assigned 5 points. Each of the six vertical boards comprises a 1.5 inch rounded bevel on a top leading edge of each of the six vertical boards. Game board 200 comprises a 10 inches wide second shelf 202, centered 12 inches below the top at the front of each game board, assigned 10 points. The back (not shown) of the game board is edged with 2 inches by 2 inches boards and has two legs attached with hinges to the back to allow each game board to sit at a suitable playing angle.



FIG. 3A shows that a bag, labelled as unfilled, covers up the other team's bag, labelled as partially filled, in the second slot from the left-most slot. FIG. 3B shows that the two bags are cancelled at a one-to-one ratio; and once the two cancelled bags are removed, the score is counted, showing the team with the unfilled bags with 14 points and the team with the partially filled bags with 13 points.



FIG. 4 is a side profile of an embodiment of a game board. In this embodiment, the back legs are 32″ long connected with a “hinge” at the top. The bottom of the leg sits 32″ from the base of the board, with a connecting device from the board to the leg to keep the board upright and at the correct angle for play.

  • 1. A game system comprising two game boards, a first game board and a second game board; each game board having a front and a back and 4 sides, a top, with a front top leading edge and a back top leading edge, a bottom, with a front bottom leading edge and a back bottom leading edge, a right side, and a left side;each game board being 30-38 inches wide and 38-42 inches tall;each game board comprising a first shelf that is 1-1.5 inch in depth, 3.5-5 inches long, and 34-38 inches wide in the front of each game board that runs the width of each game board at 2.5-5 inches above the bottom, the first shelf comprising six vertical boards, each of which being 1-1.5 inches in depth, 3.5-4.5 inches wide, and 9-11 inches tall, forming five slots, each slot being 5.5-6.5 inches wide, each slot having points assigned to it;each of the six vertical boards comprising a 1-1.5 inch rounded bevel on a top leading edge of each of the six vertical boards;each game board comprising a 9-11 inches wide second shelf centered 9-13 inches below the top at the front of each game board, the second shelf having point assigned to it;the back of each game board being edged with 1.5-2.5 inches by 1.5-2.5 inches boards and comprising two legs made from 1.5 inches by 1.5 inches boards attached with hinges to the top of the back to allow each game board to sit at a 25°-35° playing angle.
  • 2. The game system of claim 1, wherein when playing, the two game boards are set 20-30 feet apart from each other from the front bottom leading edge of each game board such that the front of the two game boards faces each other.

The game system of claim 1, each game board being 36 inches wide and 40 inches tall; the two game boards being set 25 feet apart from each other from the bottom leading edge of each game board; each game board comprising a first shelf that is 1 inch in depth, 4 inches tall, and 36 inches wide in the front of each game board that runs the width of each game board at 3″ above the bottom with vertical boards, each vertical board being 1 inch in depth, 4 inches wide, and 10 inches tall, forming five slots, each slot being 6 inches wide; each of the six vertical boards comprising a 1.5 inch rounded bevel on a top leading edge of each of the six vertical boards; each game board comprising a 10 inches wide second shelf centered 10 inches from the top at the front of each game board; the back of each game board being edged with 2 inches by 2 inches boards and having two legs made from 2 inches by 2 inches boards attached with hinges to the back to allow each game board to sit at a 55° playing angle.
  • 4. The game system of claim 1, further comprising eight 14-18 ounce bean bags.
  • 5. The game system of claim 1, further comprising eight 16 ounce bean bags.
  • 6. The game system of claim 1, wherein the second shelf is assigned 10 pints, the two outermost slots of the first shelf are assigned 1 point each; the two slots of the first shelf immediately adjacent to the two outermost slots are assigned 3 points each; the centermost slot of the first shelf is assigned 5 points.

A game system comprising two game boards, a first game board and a second game board; each game board having a front and a back and 4 sides, a top, with a front top leading edge and a back top leading edge, a bottom, with a front bottom leading edge and a back bottom leading edge, a right side, and a left side;each game board being between 22-26 inches wide and 30-34 inches tall; each game board comprising a first shelf that is between 1-1.5 inch in depth, 3.5-5 inches long, and 22-26 inches wide in the front of each game board that runs the width of each game board at 2.5-5 inches above the bottom;the first shelf comprising six vertical boards, each of which being 1-1.5 inches in depth, 3.5-4.5 inches wide and 6-10 inches tall, forming five slots, each slot being 3-5 inches wide, each slot having points assigned to it;each of the six vertical boards comprising a 1-1.5 inch rounded bevel on a top leading edge of each of the six vertical boards;each game board comprising a 7-9 inches wide second shelf centered 7-10 inches below the top at the front of each game board, the second shelf having point assigned to it;the back of each game board being edged with 1.5-2.5 inches by 1.5-2.5 inches boards and comprising two legs made from 1.5 inches by 1.5 inches boards attached with hinges to the bottom of the back to allow each game board to sit at a 25-35° playing angle.
  • 8. The game system of claim 7, wherein when playing, the two game boards are set 20-30 feet apart from each other from the front bottom leading edge of each game board such that the front of the two game boards faces each other.
  • 9. The game system of claim 7, further comprising eight 10-14 ounce bean bags.

The game system of claim 7, wherein the second shelf is assigned 10 pints, the two outermost slots of the first shelf are assigned 1 point each; the two slots of the first shelf immediately adjacent to the two outermost slots are assigned 3 points each; the centermost slot of the first shelf is assigned 5 points.
  • 11. A method of playing a game comprising: playing with four players as two teams of two players each team, using any of the game system of claim 6, each team having four bean bags;placing a first player at the first game board and the other team's first player at the first game board; placing a team's second player at the second game board and the other team's second player at the second game board;each team alternately throwing a bean bag to the opposite game board with the players on each team alternating, until all bags have been played to conclude a round, the object being to throw the bag inside one of the five slots of the first shelf or the second shelf of the opposite game board;when throwing, each player keeping at least one foot behind the leading edge of the game board nearest the player;after each round, counting the score for each team; wherein:bags that hit the ground prior to the opposite game board do not count and are immediately removed from play;a bag that covers up the other team's bag is cancelled at a one-to-one ratio;a bag that hangs above the slots at the bottom must have a minimum of two corners in the slot to count as valid for score;a bag that hangs on the bottom of the slot counts, even if only one corner is in the slot, so long as the bag does not touch the ground; anda bag that has at least one corner on the second shelf is counted as a valid score;the team that scores the highest during a round determines the order of play for the next round;each game ends at 50 points but only at the end of a round and if both teams are over 50 points at the end of that round, the team with the highest score wins.
  • 12. A method of playing a game comprising: playing with four players as two teams of two players each team, using any of the game system of claim 10, each team having four bean bags;placing a first player at the first game board and the other team's first player at the first game board; placing a team's second player at the second game board and the other team's second player at the second game board;each team alternately throwing a bean bag to the opposite game board with the players on each team alternating, until all bags have been played to conclude a round, the object being to throw the bag inside one of the five slots of the first shelf or the second shelf of the opposite game board;when throwing, each player keeping at least one foot behind the leading edge of the game board nearest the player;after each round, counting the score for each team; wherein:bags that hit the ground prior to the opposite game board do not count and are immediately removed from play;a bag that covers up the other team's bag is cancelled at a one-to-one ratio;a bag that hangs above the slots at the bottom must have a minimum of two corners in the slot to count as valid for score;a bag that hangs on the bottom of the slot counts, even if only one corner is in the slot, so long as the bag does not touch the ground; anda bag that has at least one corner on the second shelf is counted as a valid score;the team that scores the highest during a round determines the order of play for the next round;each game ends at 50 points but only at the end of a round and if both teams are over 50 points at the end of that round, the team with the highest score wins.
