DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Referring now to the drawings submitted herewith, wherein various elements depicted therein are not necessarily drawn to scale and wherein through the views and figures like elements are referenced with identical reference numerals, there is illustrated a game 100 constructed according to the principles of the present invention.

An embodiment of the present invention is discussed herein with reference to the figures submitted herewith. Those skilled in the art will understand that the detailed description herein with respect to these figures is for explanatory purposes and that it is contemplated within the scope of the present invention that alternative embodiments are plausible. By way of example but not by way of limitation, those having skill in the art in light of the present teachings of the present invention will recognize a plurality of alternate and suitable approaches dependent upon the needs of the particular application to implement the functionality of any given detail described herein, beyond that of the particular implementation choices in the embodiment described herein. Various modifications and embodiments are within the scope of the present invention.

It is to be further understood that the present invention is not limited to the particular methodology, materials, uses and applications described herein, as these may vary. Furthermore, it is also to be understood that the terminology used herein is used for the purpose of describing particular embodiments only, and is not intended to limit the scope of the present invention. It must be noted that as used herein and in the claims, the singular forms “a”, “an” and “the” include the plural reference unless the context clearly dictates otherwise. Thus, for example, a reference to “an element” is a reference to one or more elements and includes equivalents thereof known to those skilled in the art. All conjunctions used are to be understood in the most inclusive sense possible. Thus, the word “or” should be understood as having the definition of a logical “or” rather than that of a logical “exclusive or” unless the context clearly necessitates otherwise. Structures described herein are to be understood also to refer to functional equivalents of such structures. Language that may be construed to express approximation should be so understood unless the context clearly dictates otherwise.

References to “one embodiment”, “an embodiment”, “exemplary embodiments”, and the like may indicate that the embodiment(s) of the invention so described may include a particular feature, structure or characteristic, but not every embodiment necessarily includes the particular feature, structure or characteristic.

Referring in particular the Figures submitted as a part hereof, the game 100 includes a plurality of cards wherein an exemplary card 10 is illustrated in FIG. 1 submitted as a part hereof. While the illustrated embodiment and exemplary method discussed herein utilize the game of hockey, it should be understood within the scope of the present invention that the game 100 could employ alternate sports and other professions. In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the game includes a deck of sixty cards 10. The card 10 includes imprinted thereon a likeness of the player, name of the player as well as career statistics of the player. Ina preferred embodiment of the present invention the deck of sixty cards includes thirteen cards having players who played center, thirteen cards of players who played left wing, thirteen cards of players who played right wing, eleven players who played defense and ten cards of players who played goalie. It should be understood within the scope of the present invention that alternate quantities of the various positions could be employed in the game 100. The card 10 will further have a point value for the player represented thereon wherein the point value can be utilized to determine a winner as is further discussed herein. It should be understood that the card 10 could be manufactured from various suitable materials and be provided in alternate sizes.

Referring now to FIG. 2, a method of development and play of the game 100 is diagrammed therein. In step 101, a sport or profession to be employed in the game 100 is selected. Step 103, creators of the game will identify players for the chosen sport. In a preferred embodiment of the game 100 the players selected to be placed on the card 10 are retired players. In step 105, the statistics for each selected player are compiled, reviewed and compared. Step 107, the players to be depicted are ranked against each other and in step 109 a relative point value is assigned to the players wherein the player with the best statistics is provided the highest numerical value. It should be understood within the scope of the present invention that the numerical value assigned to the player could vary in scale. Furthermore, in a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the players selected will be comprised of a group that will include players from all position of a team for that particular sport. An exemplary selection and quantity of players for hockey has been mentioned herein above.

Step 111, the cards 10 are created and distributed through suitable distribution channels to individuals desiring to play the game 100 wherein the cards 10 are provided in a deck of sixty. In step 117, a group of players will gather in order to commence playing the game 100. It should be understood within the rules of the game 100 that at least two players are required to play the game 100. Step 119, each player will draw six initial cards from the provided deck of sixty cards. Step 121, the player selected to initiate a round of play will start the game 100. It is contemplated within the scope of the present invention that the eldest person playing the game 100 will go first. It should be understood within the scope of the present invention that the various options for selecting the initial player could be executed.

In step 123, the initial round of play will commence. It should be understood within the scope of the present invention that the quantity of rounds of play are equivalent to the rounds of play in the actual game being represented by the players on the cards 10. By way of example but not limitation, for the game 100 that includes hockey players represented on the card 10, there are three rounds of play for the game. If American football players were represented on the cards 10, then the game 100 would include four rounds of play. Each round consists of a player either discarding a card, trading a card with a player or drawing a card from the card deck. Players will alternate turns and any of the aforementioned actions can be executed by the player which results from the player attempting to collect cards that will have a collection of players represented thereon that will simulate creation of a complete team for the sport being represented in the cards 10. By way of example but not limitation, for hockey the players will be attempting to collect cards that have represented thereon a center, a left wing player, a right wing player, a defensive player and a goalie. It is further desired within the scope of the present invention that each player is attempting to not only collect a suite of cards having represented thereon the aforementioned player positions, but also collect those with the highest point total for each position.

Step 123 continues and progress into step 125 wherein the players of the game 100 are attempting to create a team lineup with the highest point total prior to the end of the game 100 which is played in an amount of rounds equivalent to that of the game being represented by the players on the cards 10. In step 127, ensuing execution of the rounds of play, each player will evaluate the cards 10 in their possession to determine if a team lineup has been achieved. If only one player achieves a team lineup then that player is declared the winner. If two or more players have collected a team lineup, then the points allocated to each player are tabulated and the player having a team lineup and the highest point total will be declared the winner of the game 100. If no player of the game 100 has collected cards with a full team lineup, then additional rounds of play will ensue with an evaluation occurring at the end of each round to determine if a player has collected cards representing a full team lineup.

Additionally, it is contemplated within the scope of the present invention that during additional rounds of play if a player becomes in possession of a full team lineup that the player will immediately announce the possession thereof to the other players. In step 131, a winner is declared utilizing one of the aforementioned techniques of either a player collecting a team lineup on the cards 10 in their possession, a higher point total than other players having also collected a team lineup on the cards 10 in their possession, or a first player to collect a team lineup in additional rounds of play.
