Claims
- 1. A gaming device comprising:a plurality of masked first selections, including at least one masked trigger selection, a plurality of masked second selections, at least one display device which displays the first and second selections; a number of picks associated with said first and second selections, wherein the number of picks is greater than the number of first selections; a plurality of awards associated with the second selections; and a processor which: (a) enables a player to pick the first selections until the player picks the trigger selection, wherein after each pick, the picked first selection is unmasked and the number of remaining picks is reduced, (b) enables the player to pick the second selections when the player picks the trigger selection, (c) unmasks the picked second selections, (d) reduces the number of remaining picks for each pick by the player from the second selections, and (e) provides any awards to the player associated with the second selections picked by the player until there are no picks remaining.
- 2. The gaming device of claim 1, wherein the plurality of awards includes at least one relatively large award and a plurality of relatively small awards.
- 3. The gaming device of claim 1, which includes at least one additional pick associated with one of the first selections.
- 4. The gaming device of claim 1, which includes at least one multiplier associated with one of the first selections.
- 5. The gaming device of claim 1, which includes at least one additional pick associated with one of the second selections.
- 6. The gaming device of claim 1, which includes at least one multiplier associated with one of the second selections.
- 7. The gaming device of claim 1, wherein at least one award is associated with each of the second selections.
- 8. The gaming device of claim 1, which includes at least one additional award associated with the first selections.
- 9. The gaming device of claim 1, wherein the number of picks is predetermined.
- 10. The gaming device of claim 1, wherein the number of picks is randomly determined.
- 11. The gaming device of claim 1, which includes a consolation award provided to the player when the player runs out of picks prior to picking the trigger selection.
- 12. The gaming device of claim 1, which includes a consolation award provided to the player when the player picks the trigger selection with the last pick.
- 13. The gaming device of claim 1, wherein the display device is a touch screen.
- 14. The gaming device of claim 1, wherein the display device is a mechanical display.
- 15. The gaming device of claim 14, wherein the mechanical display includes at least one movable revealing member which covers and reveals each of the first selections.
- 16. The gaming device of claim 15, wherein the first selections are mechanical reels that include one or more trigger symbols.
- 17. The gaming device of claim 1, wherein the second selections replace the first selections on the display device.
- 18. The gaming device of claim 1, which includes at least one additional pick provided to the player for the second selections.
- 19. A gaming device comprising:a plurality of masked first selections, including at least one masked trigger selection, a plurality of masked second selections; at least one display device which displays the first and second selections; a number of picks associated with said first and second selections, wherein the number of picks is greater than the number of first selections; a plurality of awards associated with the second selections; and a processor which: (a) enables a player to pick the first selections until the player picks the trigger selections wherein after each nick, the nicked first selection is unmasked and the number of remaining nicks is reduced; (b) enables the player to pick the second selections when the player picks the trigger selection; (c) unmasks the picked second selections; (d) reduces the number of remaining picks for each pick by the player from the second selections; and (e) provides any awards to the player associated with the second selections picked by the player until there are no picks remaining.
- 20. The gaming device of claim 19, wherein the display device is a touch screen.
- 21. The gaming device of claim 19, wherein the display device is a mechanical display.
- 22. The gaming device of claim 21, wherein the mechanical display includes at least one movable revealing member which covers and reveals each of the first selections.
- 23. The gaming device of claim 22, wherein the first selections are mechanical reels that include one or more trigger symbols.
- 24. The gaming device of claim 19, wherein the second selections replace the first selections on the display device.
- 25. The gaming device of claim 19, which includes at least one additional pick provided to the player for the second selections.
- 26. A gaming device comprising:a plurality of masked first selections including a plurality of trigger selections; a plurality of masked second selections; at least one display device which displays the first and second selections; a number of picks associated with the first and second selections, wherein the number of picks is greater than the number of first selections; a plurality of awards associated with the second selections; and a processor which: (a) enables a player to pick the first selections until the player picks the trigger selection, wherein after each pick, the picked first selection is unmasked and the number of remaining picks is reduced, (b) enables the player to pick the second selections when the player picks the trigger selection; (c) unmasks the picked second selections; (d) reduces the number of remaining picks for each pick by the player from the second selections; and (e) provides any awards to the player associated with the second selections picked by the player until there are no picks remaining.
- 27. The gaming device of claim 26, wherein the display device is a touch screen.
- 28. The gaming device of claim 26, wherein the display device is a mechanical display.
- 29. The gaming device of claim 28, wherein the mechanical display includes at least one movable revealing member which covers and reveals each of the first selections.
- 30. The gaming device of claim 29, wherein the first selections are mechanical reels that include one or more trigger symbols.
- 31. The gaming device of claim 26, wherein the second selections replace the first selections on the display device.
- 32. The gaming device of claim 26, which includes a consolation award provided to the player when the player runs out of picks before picking the trigger selection.
- 33. The gaming device of claim 26, which includes a consolation award provided to the player when the player picks one of the trigger selections with the last pick.
- 34. The gaming device of claim 26, which includes at least one additional pick provided to the player for the second selections.
- 35. A gaming device comprising:a plurality of masked first selections including a plurality of trigger selections; a plurality of masked second selections associated with each of the trigger selections; at least one display device which displays the first and second selections; a number of picks associated with said first and second selections, wherein the number of picks is greater than the number of first selections; a plurality of awards associated with the second selections; and a processor which enables a player to pick the first selections until the player picks one of the trigger selections unmasks each picked first selection, reduces the number of remaining picks for each pick by the player from the first selections, enables the player to pick the second selections associated with said trigger selection picked by the player, unmasks each picked second selection, reduces the number of remaining picks for each pick by the player from the second selections and provides any awards to the player associated with the second selections picked by the player until there are no picks remaining.
- 36. The gaming device of claim 35, wherein the display device is a touch screen.
- 37. The gaming device of claim 35, wherein the display device is a mechanical display.
- 38. The gaming device of claim 35, wherein the mechanical display includes at least one movable revealing member which covers and reveals each of the first selections.
- 39. The gaming device of claim 38, wherein the first selections are mechanical reels that include one or more trigger symbols.
- 40. The gaming device of claim 35, wherein the awards associated with each of the plurality of second selections are different.
- 41. The gaming device of claim 35, wherein the second selections replace the first selections on the display device.
- 42. The gaming device of claim 35, which includes a consolation award provided to the player when the player runs out of picks before picking one of the trigger selections.
- 43. The gaming device of claim 35, which includes a consolation award provided to the player when the player picks the trigger selection with the last pick.
- 44. The gaming device of claim 35, which includes at least one additional pick provided to the player for the second selections.
- 45. A gaming device comprising:a plurality of masked first selections including at least one trigger selection; a plurality of masked second selections; at least one display device which displays the first and second selections; a number of picks associated with said first and second selections, wherein the number of picks is greater than the number of first selections; at least one additional pick associated with one of the first or second selections; a plurality of awards associated with the second selections; and a processor which enables a player to pick the first selections until the player picks the trigger selection, unmasks each picked first selection, reduces the number of remaining picks for each pick by the player from the first selections, provides at least one additional pick when the player picks one of the first selections having at least one additional pick associated with said first selection, enables the player to pick the second selections when the player picks the trigger selection, unmasks each picked second selection, reduces the number of remaining picks for each pick by the player from the second selections, provides at least one additional pick when the player picks one of the second selections having at least one additional pick associated with said second selection, and provides any awards to the player associated with the second selections picked by the player until there are no picks remaining.
- 46. The gaming device of claim 45, wherein the display device is a touch screen.
- 47. The gaming device of claim 45, wherein the display device is a mechanical display.
- 48. The gaming device of claim 47, wherein the mechanical display includes at least one movable revealing member which covers and reveals each of the first selections.
- 49. The gaming device of claim 48, wherein the first selections are mechanical reels that include one or more trigger symbols.
- 50. The gaming device of claim 45, wherein at least one of the additional picks is associated with a bonus symbol.
- 51. The gaming device of claim 45, wherein the second selections replace the first selections on the display device.
- 52. The gaming device of claim 45, which includes a consolation award provided to the player when the player runs out of picks before picking the trigger selection.
- 53. The gaming device of claim 45, which includes a consolation award provided to the player when the player picks the trigger selection with the last pick.
- 54. The gaming device of claim 45, which includes at least one additional pick provided to the player for the second selections.
- 55. A gaming device comprising:a plurality of masked first selections including at least one trigger selection; a plurality of masked second selections; at least one display device which displays the first and second selections; a number of picks associated with said first and second selections, wherein the number of picks is greater than the number of first selections; at least one relationship indicator which identifies the relationship between the trigger selection and each selection picked by a player; a plurality of awards associated with the second selections; and a processor which enables the player to pick the first selections until the player picks, the trigger selection, unmasks each first selection picked by the player, activates the relationship indicator to identify the relationship between the trigger selection and the selection picked by the player, reduces the number of picks for each pick by the player from the first selections, enables the player to pick second selections when the player picks the target selection, unmasks each second selection picked by the player, reduces the number of picks for each pick by the player from the second selections and provides any awards associated with the second selections picked by the player until there are no picks remaining.
- 56. The gaming device of claim 55, which includes a selector for enabling the player to activate the relationship indicator.
- 57. The gaming device of claim 55, wherein the display device is a touch screen.
- 58. The gaming device of claim 55, wherein the display device is a mechanical display.
- 59. The gaming device of claim 58, wherein the mechanical display includes at least one movable revealing member which covers and reveals each of the first selections.
- 60. The gaming device of claim 59, wherein the first selections are mechanical reels that include one or more trigger symbols.
- 61. The gaming device of claim 55, wherein the second selections replace the first selections on the display device.
- 62. The gaming device of claim 55, which includes a consolation award provided to the player when the player runs out of picks before picking the trigger selection.
- 63. The gaming device of claim 55, which includes a consolation award provided to the player when the player picks the trigger selection with the last pick.
- 64. The gaming device of claim 55, which includes at least one additional pick provided to the player for the second selections.
- 65. A gaming device comprising:a plurality of sets including masked first selections; at least one trigger selection included in each of said sets; a plurality of masked second selections; at least one display device which displays the sets of first selections and the second selections; a number of picks associated with each of the sets and the second selections, wherein the number of picks for each set is greater than the number of first selections in that set; a plurality of awards associated with the second selections; and a processor which enables a player to pick first selections in each of the sets until the player picks the trigger selection in the sets unmasks each picked first selection, reduces the number of picks associated with each set for each first selection picked by the player in those sets, enables the player to pick the second selections when the player picks at least one trigger selection, unmasks each nicked second selection, provides a total number of picks to the player based on the sum of the picks remaining for each set, reduces the total number of picks for each pick by the player from the second selections, and provides any awards to the player associated with the second selections picked by the player until there are no picks remaining.
- 66. The gaming device of claim 65, which includes at least one additional pick associated with one of the first selections in each of the sets.
- 67. The gaming device of claim 65, which includes at least one multiplier associated with one of the first selections in each of the sets.
- 68. The gaming device of claim 65, which includes at least one additional pick associated with one of the second selections.
- 69. The gaming device of claim 65, which includes at least one multiplier associated with one of the second selections.
- 70. The gaming device of claim 65, which includes a consolation award provided to the player when the player does not pick any of the trigger selections in the sets before running out of picks for said sets.
- 71. The gaming device of claim 65, which includes at least one additional pick associated with each of the trigger selections in the sets.
- 72. The gaming device of claim 65, which includes at least one additional pick provided to the player for the second selections.
- 73. The gaming device of claim 65, wherein the display device is a touch screen.
- 74. The gaming device of claim 65, wherein the display device is a mechanical display.
- 75. The gaming device of claim 74, wherein the mechanical display includes at least one movable revealing member which covers and reveals the first selections in each of the sets.
- 76. The gaming device of claim 75, in the first selections are mechanical reels that include one or more trigger symbols.
- 77. The gaming device of claim 65, wherein the second selections replace the sets of first selections on the display device.
- 78. A method of operating a gaming device, the method comprising the steps of:(a) displaying a plurality of masked first selections, including a trigger selection to a player; (b) displaying a number of picks to the player, wherein the number of picks is greater than the number of first selections; (c) enabling the player to pick at least one of the first selections until the player picks the trigger selection; (d) unmasking the picked first selection; (e) reducing the number of picks for each first selection picked by the player; (f) repeat steps (c) to (e) until the player picks the trigger selection; (g) displaying a plurality of masked second selections to the player when the player picks the trigger selection, wherein the second selections are associated with (h) enabling the player to pick at least one of the second selections; (i) unmasking each picked second selection; (j) reducing the number of picks for each second selection picked by the player; (k) providing any award to the player associated with each second selection picked by the slayer; and (j) repeating steps (h) to (k) until there are no picks remaining.
- 79. The mod of claim 78, the first and second selections are displayed on a touch screen.
- 80. The method of claim 78, wherein the first and second selections are displayed on a mechanical display.
- 81. The method of claim 78, wherein the number of picks is reduced by a predetermined amount.
- 82. The method of claim 78, wherein the number of picks is reduced by a random amount.
- 83. The method of claim 78, wherein the awards include a plurality of relatively small awards and at least one relatively large award.
- 84. The method of 78, includes the step of providing a consolation award to the player if the player picks the trigger selection with the final pick.
- 85. The method of claim 78, which includes the step of providing at least one additional pick to the player when the player picks one of the first or second selections.
- 86. The method of claim 78, which includes the step of providing at least one multiplier to the player when the player picks one of the first or second selections.
- 87. The method of claim 78, wherein the first selections include a plurality of trigger selections.
- 88. The gaming device of claim 78, wherein the second selections replace the first selections.
- 89. The method of claim 78, wherein the steps (a) to are provided to the player through a data network.
- 90. The method of claim 89, wherein the data network is an internet.
- 91. The method of claim 78, which includes the step of providing at least one additional pick to the player for the second selections.
- 92. A method of operating a gaming device, the method comprising the steps of:(a) displaying a plurality of masked first selections including at least one trigger selection and a plurality of masked second selections to a player, wherein a plurality of awards are associated with the second selections; (b) displaying a number of picks to the player wherein the number of picks is greater than the number of first selections; (c) enabling the player to pick the first selections until the player picks the trigger selection; (d) unmasking each picked first selection; (e) reducing the number of picks for each first selection picked by the player; (f) enabling the player to pick the second selections when the player picks the trigger selection; (g) unmasking each picked second selection; (h) reducing the number of picks for each second selection picked by the player; (i) providing any award to the player for each second selection picked by the player and (j) repeating steps (c) to (i) until there are no picks remaining.
