Claims
- 1. A gaming device comprising:
a display device; a processor which communicates with the display device; an event involving player skill displayed by the display device; a player interface which communicates at least one player decision in said event involving player skill to the processor; at least one successful outcome adapted to be displayed by the display device when the successful outcome is achieved by the player decision in the event involving player skill communicated to the processor; an unsuccessful outcome adapted to be achieved by the player decision in the event involving player skill; and a monetary award determined by the processor and provided to the player upon occurrence of the successful outcome.
- 2. The gaming device of claim 1, wherein the unsuccessful outcome is displayed by the display device when the unsuccessful outcome is achieved by the player decision in the event involving player skill.
- 3. The gaming device of claim 1, which includes a consolation monetary award provided to the player upon occurrence of the unsuccessful outcome.
- 4. The gaming device of claim 1, further comprising: at least one bonus round including the event involving player skill, the player interface, and the successful outcome and the unsuccessful outcome.
- 5. The gaming device of claim 1, wherein each successful outcome is one of a set number of successful outcomes adapted to be provided by the processor for said event involving player skill.
- 6. The gaming device of claim 5, wherein the set number of successful outcomes is a randomly determined number provided by the processor.
- 7. The gaming device of claim 5, wherein the set number of successful outcomes is a predetermined number provided by the processor.
- 8. The gaming device of claim 5, wherein the set number of successful outcomes is provided by the processor based on at least one symbol generated by a plurality of slot reels controlled by the processor.
- 9. The gaming device of claim 1, which includes a plurality of monetary awards associated with a plurality of successful outcomes in the event involving player skill.
- 10. The gaming device of claim 9, wherein a different monetary award is associated with each successful outcome.
- 11. The gaming device of claim 1, wherein the player's decisions in said event involving player skill determines the timing of when the successful outcome is achieved by to the player.
- 12. The gaming device of claim 1, which includes multiple player decisions in the event involving player skill which determine the timing of the successful outcome provided to the player.
- 13. The gaming device of claim 12, wherein the event involving player skill includes a plurality of player decisions, wherein the successful outcome is more difficult to achieve in at least one of the player decisions than in another of said player decisions.
- 14. The gaming device of claim 1, wherein the event involving player skill includes multiple levels and at least one player decision in each level.
- 15. The gaming device of claim 14, wherein the successful outcome is more difficult to achieve in the player decision on one level than the player decision on another level.
- 16. The gaming device of claim 14, which includes multiple player decisions in each level.
- 17. The gaming device of claim 1, which includes multiple player decisions in the event involving player skill, wherein one decision determines if one successful outcome is achieved by the player decision and at least partially determines if a subsequent successful outcome is subsequently achieved by the player decision.
- 18. A gaming device comprising:
a display device; a processor which communicates with the display device; an event involving player skill displayed by the display device; a player interface which communicates at least one player decision in said event involving player skill to the processor; at least one successful outcome adapted to be displayed by the display device when the successful outcome is achieved by the player decision in the event involving player skill communicated to the processor, wherein the player decision determines the timing of when the successful outcome is achieved by the player decision; an unsuccessful outcome adapted to be achieved by the player decision in the event involving player skill; and a monetary award determined by the processor and provided to the player upon occurrence of the successful outcome.
- 19. The gaming device of claim 18, wherein the unsuccessful outcome is displayed by the display device when the unsuccessful outcome is achieved by the player decision in the event involving player skill.
- 20. The gaming device of claim 18, wherein each successful outcome is one of a set number of successful outcomes adapted to be provided by the processor for said event involving player skill.
- 21. The gaming device of claim 20, wherein the set number of successful outcomes is a randomly determined number provided by the processor.
- 22. The gaming device of claim 18, which includes a plurality of monetary awards associated with a plurality of successful outcomes in the event involving player skill.
- 23. The gaming device of claim 18, which includes multiple player decisions in the event involving player skill which determine the timing of the successful outcome provided to the player.
- 24. The gaming device of claim 18, which includes multiple player decisions in the event involving player skill, wherein one decision determines if one successful outcome is achieved by the player decision and at least partially determines if a subsequent successful outcome is subsequently achieved.
- 25. A gaming device comprising:
a display device; a processor which communicates with the display device; an event involving player skill displayed the display device; a player interface which communicates multiple player decisions in said event involving player skill to the processor; at least one successful outcome adapted to be displayed by the display device when the successful outcome is achieved by a combination of the multiple player decisions in the event involving player skill communicated to the processor; an unsuccessful outcome adapted to be achieved by the multiple player decisions in the event involving player skill; and a monetary award determined by the processor and provided to the player upon occurrence of the successful outcome.
- 26. The gaming device of claim 25, wherein the unsuccessful outcome is displayed by the display device when the unsuccessful outcome is achieved by the player decisions in the event involving player skill.
- 27. The gaming device of claim 25, wherein each successful outcome is one of a set number of successful outcomes adapted to be provided by the processor for said event involving player skill.
- 28. The gaming device of claim 27, wherein the set number of successful outcomes is a randomly determined number provided by the processor.
- 29. The gaming device of claim 25, which includes a plurality of monetary awards associated with a plurality of successful outcomes in the event involving player skill.
- 30. A method for operating a gaming device, said method comprising the steps of:
(a) displaying an event involving player skill on a display device; (b) enabling a player to input a decision into the event involving skill using a player interface; (c) determining one of a successful outcome and an unsuccessful outcome upon the player's input, the determination based on the player's decision for the event involving skill; (d) if determined, displaying the successful outcome on the display device; and (e) providing a monetary award to the player for producing the successful outcome.
- 31. The method of claim 30, which includes displaying the unsuccessful outcome, if determined, on the display device.
- 32. The method of claim 30, wherein enabling the player to input a decision into the event involving skill includes timing an action within the event.
- 33. The method of claim 30, wherein enabling the player to input one of the player decisions into the event involving skill includes aiming a device within the event.
- 34. The method of claim 30, wherein the display device includes a touch screen which enables the player to aim the device.
- 35. The method of claim 30, wherein enabling the player to input a decision into the event involving skill includes remembering a previously displayed item within said event.
- 36. The method of claim 30, wherein enabling the player to input a decision into the event involving skill includes counting a plurality of items displayed within the event.
- 37. The method of claim 30, wherein enabling the player to input a decision into said event involving skill includes matching a plurality of items displayed within the event.
- 38. The method of claim 30, wherein enabling the player to input a decision into the event involving skill includes performing a mathematical operation upon a plurality of items displayed within said event, wherein said mathematical operation is adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing or a combination thereof.
- 39 The method of claim 30, wherein enabling the player to input a decision into the event involving skill includes predicting an outcome based on the player's knowledge.
- 40. The method of claim 30, wherein enabling the player to input a decision in the event involving skill includes enabling the player to input a plurality of decisions which determine at least one successful outcome.
- 41. A gaming device comprising:
a processor; a memory device accessible by the processor; a display device controlled by the processor, wherein the processor, the memory device and the display device are adapted to:
(a) display an event involving player skill on the display device; (b) provide a player interface adapted for receiving at least one decision by said player in the event involving player skill; (c) enable the player to input said decisions in the event involving skill; (d) determine one of a successful outcome and an unsuccessful outcome based on the player's input, the determination based solely on the player's input in the event involving skill; (e) if determined, display the successful outcome on the display device; and (f) provide a monetary award to the player for producing the successful outcome.
