Claims
- 1. In a gaming environment including at least one table game, a system for tracking player game play at said at least one table game comprising:
a portable transaction interface having a display and at least one input device, said portable transaction interface capable of receiving and sending information over a wireless communication link; and at least one player tracking server adapted to store player identification and player game play data, receive player identification and player game play data transmitted from said portable transaction interface, and transmit data to said portable transaction interface.
- 2. The system in accordance with claim 1 wherein said portable transaction interface is adapted to display a graphical user interface on said display, said graphical user interface including input fields for accepting player game play and player identification information.
- 3. The system in accordance with claim 1 wherein said portable transaction interface includes a microprocessor adapted to execute computer readable code causing the display of one or more menu elements.
- 4. The system in accordance with claim 3 wherein said menu elements include an element for opening a player rating and an element for closing a player rating.
- 5. The system in accordance with claim 1 wherein said portable transaction interface includes a means for generating a signal which when transmitted to said player tracking server causes said server to open a player rating.
- 6. The system in accordance with claim 1 wherein said portable transaction interface includes a means for generating a signal which when transmitted to said player tracking server causes said server to close a player rating.
- 7. The system in accordance with claim 1 wherein said portable transaction interface includes means for generating a signal which when transmitted to said player tracking server causes said server to associate player game play data with a player's rating.
- 8. The system in accordance with claim 1 wherein said portable transaction interface includes means for generating a signal which when transmitted to said player tracking server causes said server to associate player identification information input to said portable transaction interface with a player identification file.
- 9. A method of tracking player game play in a gaming environment including a table game at which one or more games are presented, a player tracking server and at least one portable transaction device comprising the steps of:
accepting player identification information at said portable transaction device; transmitting player identification information identifying a player from said portable transaction device to said player tracking server over a wireless communication link; opening a player rating file at said player tracking server corresponding to said identified player; accepting game play information regarding said identified player at said portable transaction device; transmitting said game player information from said portable transaction device to said player tracking server; and storing said game play information at said player rating file.
- 10. The method in accordance with claim 9 wherein said step of accepting player identification information comprises reading a player tracking card.
- 11. The method in accordance with claim 9 including the step of displaying a menu at said portable transaction device.
- 12. The method in accordance with claim 11 wherein said step of opening a player rating file includes the step of accepting input of a menu selection to open a player rating file.
- 13. The method in accordance with claim 9 including the step of displaying a graphical user interface at said portable transaction device for use in receiving input.
- 14. The method in accordance with claim 13 wherein said graphical user interface includes at least one input field and said step of accepting play information comprises receiving input into said at least one input field.
- 15. The method in accordance with claim 9 including the step of transmitting a signal from said portable transaction device to said player tracking server causing said player rating file to be closed.
- 16. The method in accordance with claim 9 including the step of transmitting player information from said player tracking server to said portable transaction device.
- 17. The method in accordance with claim 16 wherein said player information comprises player bodily characteristic data.
- 18. A gaming environment comprising:
at least one gaming table at which one or more table-style games may be presented; at least one portable transaction device having a display and at least one input device, said portable transaction device capable of receiving and sending information over a wireless communication link; and at least one server located remotely from the at least one gaming table, the at least one server configured to store and process table-game related information selected from the group consisting of game accounting, game rules, player play, player identification and game security information received from said at least one portable transaction device as input to said device at said gaming table, and to transmit information to said portable transaction device.
- 19. The gaming environment in accordance with claim 18 wherein said portable transaction device is adapted to display graphical user interface information generated by said at least one server and transmitted to said at least one portable transaction device, said graphical user interface including one or more fields for accepting information regarding said table game.
