Abstract
A garment hanger includes a hanger body and a linking piece attachable to the hanger body in a suspended manner. The hanger body has a neck from which a hook extends. The linking piece includes a main body having an annular portion adapted to be detachably mounted around the neck of the hanger body, and a plurality of spaced holders formed on the main body for hanging other garment hangers therefrom.
Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a garment hanger and, more particularly, to a garment hanger which has a linking piece for hanging other garment hangers therefrom.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

A garment hanger provided with a linking element known in FIG. 5 showing a perspective view of an exiting garment hanger 5, which includes a curved body 51 formed with an upper hook 52 and a lower linking element 53. In general, the linking element 53 has a ringlike configuration used for hanging hook 62 of another garment hanger 6.

Although the garment hanger 5 provides a linkage between the two, it can not be used for hanging more than one garment hangers directly from it.

Furthermore, the ringlike element 53 defines an eye extending in a direction as designated by the arrow 531, which is substantially parallel to the curved body 51, for hanging up the other garment hanger 6, so that the two garment hangers linked up are oriented in the same direction. This brings a limit to exhibition and display of the garments on the garment hangers.

Therefore, there is a need for developing an improved garment hanger to overcome the shortcomings of the prior art.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

It is an object of the present invention to provide a garment hanger which has a linking piece for hanging more than one other garment hangers directly from it.

Another object of the present invention is to provide a garment hanger which has a linking piece configured to hang up the other garment hanger in respective orientations and respective positions.

To achieve the aforementioned objects, the present invention provides a garment hanger including a hanger body and a linking piece attachable to the hanger body in a suspended manner. The hanger body has a neck from which a hook extends. The linking piece includes a main body having an annular portion adapted to be detachably mounted around the neck of the hanger body; and a plurality of spaced holders formed on the main body for hanging other garment hangers therefrom.

As one aspect of the present invention, the annular portion is shaped to mate with the neck for steadily attaching the linking piece to the hanger body.

As another aspect of the present invention, the spaced holders are formed on opposite surfaces or, alternatively, on a same surface of the main body.

As still another aspect of the present invention, the spaced holders have respective eyes for receiving hooks of the other garment hangers.

As yet another aspect of the present invention, the main body of the linking piece is optionally shaped as an inverted Y.

Other objects, advantages and novel features of this invention will become more apparent from the following detailed description when taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

FIG. 1A is a perspective view of a preferred embodiment of a garment hanger in accordance with the present invention;

FIG. 1B is a perspective view of the garment hanger with other garment hangers being hung directly from it;

FIG. 2 is an enlarged perspective view of a linking piece incorporated in the inventive garment hanger of FIG. 1A;

FIG. 3 is an enlarged perspective view of an alternative embodiment of the linking piece;

FIG. 4 is an enlarged perspective view of another alternative embodiment of the linking piece; and

FIG. 5 is a front view showing two or more garment hangers of prior art being linked with each other.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

FIG. 1A is a perspective view of a preferred embodiment of a garment hanger 3 in accordance with the present invention. As shown in FIG. 1A, the garment hanger 3 includes a hanger body 30 and a linking piece 1 attachable to the hanger body 30 in a suspended manner.

The hanger body 30, configured approximately as an inverted V, a triangle or as any shape which can support a garment on it, may be made of plastic by injection or of any other durable material suitable for it. Additionally, the hanger body 30 has a neck 31 from which a hook 33 extends.

Referring to FIG. 2, the linking piece 1 may also be made of plastic by injection or of any other durable material suitable for it. The linking piece 1 includes a main body 11 having a top annular portion 13 formed on the main body 11 at a right angle. Particularly, the annular portion 13 is adapted to be detachably mounted around the neck 31 of the hanger body 30, as clearly shown in FIG. 1A, for hanging the linking piece 1 from the hanger body 30.

In a highly preferred embodiment, the neck 31 of the hanger body 30 has a predetermined width W1 and a predetermined length L1, and the annular portion 13 of the linking piece 1 has an inner width W2 slightly greater than the predetermined width W1 of the neck 31 and an inner length L2 slightly greater than the predetermined length L1 of the same neck 31. Of course, the annular portion 13 may be shaped in other way in which it may mate with the neck 31 for the purpose of steadily attaching the linking piece 1 to the hanger body 30.

The linking piece 1 further has a plurality of spaced holders 15 formed on the main body 11, either on opposite surfaces of the body 11 as shown in FIG. 3, or on a same surface of the body 11 as shown in FIG. 2, for hanging other garment hangers therefrom.

The holders 15 have respective eyes 17 to receive hooks 41 of the other garment hangers 4, as illustrated in FIG. 1B. Because the linking piece 1 can be made of plastic easily by injection, it is preferably that the main body 11 of the linking piece 1 defines a plurality of openings 18 in communication with the eyes 17 of the holders 15, in order to facilitate the formation of the holders 15 on the main body 11.

In addition, the linking piece 1 further has a plurality of rib reinforcements 19 formed on the main body 11 for reinforcing the holders 15. This enables the holders 15 to be strong enough to support the weight of more garments hung on the garment hangers which are, in turn, hung from the holders 15.

Referring to FIG. 4, the linking piece 1 may also be shaped as an inverted Y or any other necessary shape as desired.

From the foregoing, it is apparent that the present invention has advantages as follows:

1. The inventive garment hanger can hang up more other hangers, on which a suit of matching garments, as well as their accessories, can be arranged and displayed together.

2. The garments and the accessories are also allowed to be displayed in perfect arrangement, both in respective orientations and in respective positions, by using such a linking piece configured in a desirable shape, such as a triangle.

Although embodiments together with structures and functions of the present invention have been described in detail, many modifications and variations may be made from the teachings disclosed hereinabove. For example, the holders of the linking piece may be configured as pegs, hooks or the like. Therefore, it should be understood by those skilled in the art that any modification and variation equivalent to the spirit of the present invention be regarded to fall into the scope coved by the appended claims.
