Claims
- 1. A gas-generating composition consisting essentially of a t-alkylhydrazinium salt and/or carbonylhydrazine and at least one compound selected from free radical forming sources; metal oxides selected from ZnO, PbO, Pb.sub.3 O.sub.4 or MgO; and sulfur or sulfur donor compounds wherein when sulfur and/or a sulfur donor compound is used, the composition will also contain one or more members selected from sulfur accelerators, metal oxides, and amino-alcohols.
- 2. The composition of claim 1 wherein the t-alkylhydrazinium salt and/or carbonylhydrazine is selected from t-butylhydrazinium chloride, di-t-butylhydrazinium sulfate, t-amylhydrazinium chloride, di(t-butylhydrazinium)terephthalate, carbohydrazide, ethylcarbazate, and acetylhydrazide.
- 3. The composition of claim 2 wherein the free radical forming source is selected from di-cumyl peroxide, di-t-butyl peroxide, t-butyl cumyl peroxide, .alpha.,.alpha.'-di(t-butylperoxy)diisopropylbenzene, 2,5-dimethyl-2,5-di(t-butylperoxy)hexane, 2,5-dimethyl-2,5-di(t-butylperoxy)hexyne-3, 1,1-bis(t-butylperoxy)-3,3,5-trimethylcyclohexane, n-butyl 4,4-bis(t-butylperoxy)valerate, ethyl 3,3-di(t-butylperoxy)butyrate, 2,5-dimethyl-2,5-bis(2-ethylhexanoylperoxy)hexane, t-amylperoxy-2-ethylhexanoate, methyl ethyl ketone peroxide, 1,1-bis(t-butylperoxy)cyclohexane, 2,2'-azobis(2-methylbutyronitrile), 1,1'-azobis(cyclohexanecarbonitrile), 2-t-butylazo-2-cyanopropane, and azoisobutyrolnitrile, and 2,2'azobis(2-acetoxypropane).
- 4. The composition of claim 1 wherein the sulfur donor compound is selected from benzothiazyl disulfide, 2-mercaptobenzothiazole, zinc 2-mercaptobenzothiazole, copper 2-mercaptobenzothiazole, zinc dimethyldithiocarbamate, copper dimethyldithiocarbamate, lead diamyldithiocarbamate, lead dimethyldithiocarbamate, zinc diethyldithiocarbamate, zinc diamyldithiocarbamate, bismuth dimethyldithiocarbamate, cadmium diamyldithiocarbamate, cadmium diethyldithiocarbamate, selenium diethyldithiocarbamate, selenium dimethyldithiocarbamate, tellurium diethyldithiocarbamate, tetraethylthiuram disulfide, ethylene thiourea, tetrabutylthiuram disulfide, tetramethylthiuram disulfide, tetramethylthiuram monosulfide, trimethylthiourea, 1,3-diethylthiourea, 1,3-dibutylthiourea, 4-morpholinyl-2-benzothiazole disulfide, n-tert-butyl-2-benzothiazolesulfenamide and 2,5-dimercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole monobenzoate.
- 5. The composition of claim 4 wherein the sulfur accelerator is selected from aldehyde amine, guanidine, and metal oxide.
- 6. The composition of claim 1 wherein sulfur is used and the accelerator is selected from sulfur donor compound, amino-alcohol, metal oxide, aldehyde amine, and guanidine.
