Claims
- 1. A gas turbine combined cycle system, comprising:
- a vertically oriented turbine which emits an exhaust gas,
- a steam generator for receiving the exhaust gas, the steam generator being above the turbine and having a water side which includes forced circulation means, and
- a vertically oriented diffuser duct between the turbine and the steam generator for reducing the flow velocity of the exhaust gas prior to entry into the steam generator.
- 2. A system according to claim 1, wherein the diffuser duct has a generally symmetrical configuration.
- 3. A system according to claim 1, wherein the steam generator emits exhaust gas directly into a stack.
- 4. A method of making a gas turbine combined cycle system including a gas turbine, a steam generator downstream from the gas turbine, the steam generator having a water side, and a diffuser duct between the gas turbine and steam generator, the method comprising:
- orienting the gas turbine, diffuser duct and steam generator vertically, with the steam generator directly above the diffuser duct and the diffuser duct directly above the gas turbine, and
- providing forced circulation means on the water side of the steam generator.
- 5. A gas turbine combined cycle system according to claim 3, wherein the diffuser duct has a generally symmetrical configuration.
- 6. A gas turbine combined cycle system according to claim 3, wherein the diffuser duct has boundary layer suction.
- 7. A gas turbine combined cycle system according to claim 5, wherein the diffuser duct has boundary layer suction.
- 8. A method according to claim 4, wherein the diffuser duct has a generally symmetrical configuration.
- 9. A method according to claim 4, wherein the steam generator emits exhaust gas directly into a stack.
- 10. A method according to claim 9, further including the step of providing the diffuser duct with boundary layer suction means.
