Claims
- 1. A gasket having a uniform thickness portion and multiple regions of different densities within the uniform thickness portion comprising:
- a first lamina of a gasket material;
- a second lamina of a gasket material, said second lamina being disposed in partial overlapping relationship with said first lamina;
- a perforated core having a plurality of prongs formed thereon, said prongs extending from a first side of said core into said first and second laminae so as to form a unitary gasket having a uniform thickness portion, said uniform thickness portion including a first density region defined by that portion of the first lamina which is overlapped by the second lamina and a second density region defined by that portion of the first lamina which is not overlapped by the second lamina.
- 2. The invention defined in claim 1 further including third and fourth laminae of gasket material, said fourth lamina being disposed in partial overlapping relationship with said third lamina, and wherein a plurality of prongs extend from a second side of said core into said third and fourth laminae so as to form said unitary gasket.
- 3. A gasket having a uniform thickness portion and multiple regions of different densities within the uniform thickness portion comprising:
- a first lamina of a gasket material having a first shape;
- a second lamina of a gasket material having a second shape different from said first shape, said first and second laminae being disposed in overlapping relationship;
- a perforated core having a plurality of prongs formed thereon, said prongs extending from a first side of said core into said first and second laminae to combine together into a unitary gasket having a uniform thickness portion including a first density region defined by that portion of the first lamina which is overlapped by the second lamina and a second density region defined by that portion of the first lamina which is not overlapped by the second lamina.
