Claims
- 1. A gel-forming insert for use in filling an electrophoresis gel holder comprising a substantially rectangular planar body member having two long edges and two short edges, and upper and lower faces, wherein said body member comprises a base portion extending along a first of the long edges and an insert portion extending along a second of the long edges, said insert portion being shorter than the base portion such that a notch is formed at a corner of each of the short edges, and wherein the insert portion has a free edge which is beveled at an angle of from 30 to 60 degrees relative to the plane of the body member such that the lower surface of the body member is larger than the upper surface, and wherein a plurality of grooves are formed in the lower surface of the body member, said grooves running parallel to the short edges and extending from the one long edge to the other.
- 2. The gel-forming insert of claim 1, wherein the free edge of the insert portion is divided into a plurality of bevel-ended fingers.
