Claims
- 1. A biological sample collection and storage kit comprising:
a) a plurality of biological sample storage devices; b) a plurality of biological sample collection devices configured to collect biological samples for placement into the biological sample storage devices; c) a plurality of biological sample identification devices for identifying the contents of the sample storage devices; and d) a housing including a base portion and a lid portion forming an interior cavity therebetween for accommodating the plurality of biological sample storage devices, the plurality of biological sample collection devices and the plurality of biological sample identification devices.
- 2. A kit as recited in claim 1, further comprising a preformed insert disposed within the base portion of the housing and having a plurality of recesses dimensioned and configured to retain the plurality of biological sample storage devices.
- 3. A kit as recited in claim 1, wherein the base portion of the housing is hinged to the lid portion of the housing.
- 4. A kit as recited in claim 1, wherein the housing includes a latch for maintaining the lid portion and the base portion in a closed position.
- 5. A kit as recited in claim 1, wherein the plurality of biological sample storage devices include closable storage vials.
- 6. A kit as recited in claim 5, wherein the plurality of biological sample storage devices include closable storage vials of varying capacity.
- 7. A kit as recited in claim 5, wherein the plurality of biological sample storage devices include glass vials and plastic vials.
- 8. A kit as recited in claim 1, wherein the plurality of biological sample collection devices are selected from the group consisting of swabs, scraper, syringes and pipettes.
- 9. A kit as recited in claim 1, wherein the plurality identification devices are selected from the group consisting of adhesive labels, string tags, markeable sleeves.
- 10. A kit as recited in claim 1, further comprising means for recording ancillary information about an individual.
- 11. A kit as recited in claim 10, wherein the means for recording ancillary information about an individual includes means for recording fingerprints of an individual.
- 12. A kit as recited in claim 11, wherein the means for recording ancillary information about an individual includes a data recordation card for recording vital statistics of an individual.
- 13. A kit as recited in claim 10, further comprising a storage sleeve for maintaining the means for recording ancillary information.
- 14. A kit as recited in claim 13, wherein the storage sleeve is affixed to an interior surface of the lid portion of the housing.
- 15. A biological sample collection and storage kit comprising:
a) a plurality of closable storage vials for storing biological samples; b) a plurality of collection devices configured to collect biological samples for placement into the closeable storage vials; c) a plurality of identification devices for identifying the biological samples contained in the closeable storage vials; d) a housing including a base portion and a lid portion joined together to form an interior cavity therebetween ; and e) a preformed insert disposed within the base portion of the housing and having a plurality of recesses dimensioned and configured to accommodate the plurality of closeable storage vials within the interior cavity of the housing.
- 16. A kit as recited in claim 15, wherein the plurality of closable storage vials includes storage vials of varying capacity.
- 17. A kit as recited in claim 15, wherein the plurality of closable storage vials include glass vials and plastic vials.
- 18. A kit as recited in claim 15, wherein the plurality of collection devices are selected from the group consisting of swabs, scrapers, syringes and pipettes.
- 19. A kit as recited in claim 15, wherein the plurality of identification devices are selected from the group consisting of adhesive labels, string tags, markeable sleeves.
- 20. A kit as recited in claim 15, further comprising means for recording ancillary information about an individual.
- 21. A kit as recited in claim 15, wherein the means for recording ancillary information about an individual includes means for recording fingerprints of an individual.
- 22. A kit as recited in claim 21, wherein the means for recording ancillary information about an individual includes an data recordation card for recording vital statistics of an individual.
- 23. A kit as recited in claim 21, further comprising a storage sleeve for maintaining the means for recording ancillary information.
- 24. A kit as recited in claim 23, wherein the storage sleeve is affixed to an interior surface of the lid portion of the housing.
- 25. A biological sample collection and storage kit comprising:
a) a plurality of closeable storage vials for storing biological samples; b) a plurality of collection devices configured to collect biological samples for placement into the closeable storage vials; c) a plurality of identification devices for identifying the biological samples contained in the closeable storage vials; d) a housing including a base portion and a lid portion joined together to form an interior cavity therebetween for accommodating the plurality of closeable storage vials, the plurality of collection devices and the plurality of identification devices; and e) a storage sleeve affixed to an interior surface of the lid portion and maintaining means for recording ancillary information relating to an individual from whom biological samples have been collected and stored within the kit.
- 26. A kit as recited in claim 25, wherein the plurality of closable storage vials includes glass storage vials and plastic storage vials of varying capacity.
- 27. A kit as recited in claim 25, wherein the plurality of collection devices are selected from the group consisting of scrapers, swabs, syringes and pipettes.
- 28. A kit as recited in claim 25, wherein the plurality of identification devices are selected from the group consisting of adhesive labels, string tags, markeable sleeves.
- 29. A kit as recited in claim 25, wherein the means for recording ancillary information about an individual includes means for recording fingerprints of an individual.
- 30. A kit as recited in claim 25, wherein the means for recording ancillary information about an individual includes an data recordation card for recording vital statistics of an individual.
